Broken ankle

Broke my right ankle a week ago and had surgery. (Metal plate and screws put in)
Experiencing a lot of pain.
Is this normal?

Thanks Liz. Hope yours goes well too. Good luck for Friday. I had to see my GP as well in the afternoon so tried put some weight on when I went out. Initially I was so scared but eventually did it and feels so weird. Had a long day with no elevation since I woke up in the morning so very tired and my leg is so swollen and double the size. Hurting too. It's an amazing feeling to see the leg with no cast on but being very scared and not letting my son (6 yrs old) come near to me
I really hope yours goes well on Friday as well and will pray for you. Tnx

So sorry about your injury. I broke three ankle bones and dislocated my ankle two weeks ago and I'm 13 days post op. My pain is pretty good now but last week it was horrible. It will get better! Keep elevating as much as possible and take your pain meds as prescribed instead of waiting for the pain to become unbearable. Hope it gets better soon for you!!
