Hi my name is Tina, I feel

All your pain. I broke my left Ankle almost 8weeks ago. I was lucky I didnt need surgery, was in cast 1st three weeks non weight bearing😦 I thought I was going to crack up not being able to get around let alone leave the house ...On the 3rd week of my appointment was told I could fully weight bear in plaster, I Then had my cast off last week and have got loads of pain & swelling ,I feel for you all in your early weeks but it does pass by eventually!

I think its a long haul & takes a lot of pain & patience thinking of you all !!

Next Tuesday I'm getting my boot on after 6 weeks in my cast. I had to have screws and plates too, but the doctor feels that 6 weeks is enuf until I get my walking boot on. Fingers crossed my recovery will be on point. They said I'd be in my walking boot 6 weeks, then into a stiff ankle brace. Does that sound right?

Hi Mary I was fortunate not to need a walking boot, I think this was because I was allowed to weight bear on my plaster the last 3weeks , the only thing I am concerned about is the Dr discharged me saying I didnt need Physio?

At the time I was pleased to think it was all over but not so sure now as almost every person is having Physio at the end x

I have plaster in parts at the back of my leg with bandage all the way around my leg and foot to allow for swelling.

Oh no. Clinic obviously not open so would have to wait until tomorrow anyway. I would say if you cN send the discomfort I would wait for the clinic. I sometimes get odd feelings on my heel. Just before they changed my last one I would of put money on having a massive blister there. But when it came off NOTHING!!BUT IF yr really worried then A & E it is. Good luck sx

I'd go in to have it checked. When they rewrapped my plaster cast my foot started to swell, and my toes started to turn purple. I went to the ER, And the stupid young female doctor said that was normal. I insisted on a new wrap because I knew if I didn't and the swelling wouldn't go down, I wouldn't have surgery the following Wednesday. Sure enough, The swelling went down completely 48 hours later and my coloring return to normal. So follow your instincts because that's more important sometimes than a doctors opinion.

Oh ok. That is what I had. It is getting g tight from swelling. It drove me crazy. So fourth day after surgery the Dr had my husband unwrap. Take splint off then rewrap. It helped the heel pressure some but not much. Finally Dr said I could cut down the center of cotton padding. That helped alot. I had ankle ligament surgery. So call Dr and ask first

Hi Britt ,I had the same it was agony. The"backslab" or open cast had been folded inside mine so I had plaster jabbing into wound and when swelling went down and pain killers wore off the day before my surgery I ripped it off but left dressings in place. We showed surgeon the backslab and he shook his head. Said caste can be uncomfortable but should not cause pain if correctly applied. All my 8 casts were plaster and a nightmare. Only one that was applied properly still hurt badly because of rubbing on staples and loose when swelling went down. The back slabs are temporary to allow for additional swelling ,hope you get it sorted soon.
