Back up on my bed. Pain I'm getting since I've started to put weight on my foot is a killer. Swelling/burning is bad too. Using ice pack for past 2days but this had leaked everywhere. So given up and come to bed and taken meds. Thought this would be getting easier? 😔

Low eb.. Pain bad swollen and Sore... Having to put this ugly boot on every time I need to get on my feet is so annoying getting me really down. Even the sound of the felcro is annoying me today. Just tryed to put it on to go just 10ft to the loo, but my foot is so sore around my ankle on both sides and swollen, the pain stopped me. This isn't getting any easier. OMG how much more. 😔 😔 😔. Sx

      Morning Britta

i dont think i have slept on my tummy, i always sleep on my side but since breaking ankle i lay on my back with leg elevated which is so dam uncomfortable, how is your swelling? These last few days mine has been bad and toes look like big blue fat sausages about to burst lol, im guessing the heat causing it, hope you are ok xx

I suffered a trimalleolar fracture on Monday playing volleyball and I am currently awaiting surgery on Monday. Since then I've experimented with different positions to alleviate swelling but haven't tried sleeping on my stomach. My advice would be put some pillows behind your back and neck while your leg is elevated. And as for swelling I put an ice pack above and below my splint where the fractures were. That's helped a little bit. Hope everyone feels better these ankle injuries are tough lol.

Oh wow lol. That sounds like a situation. I landed on another players foot in a co-ed volleyball game. Knew it was either broken or dislocated when it happened as I saw my foot hanging from my leg at a 45 degree angle. Later found out it was dislocated and broken in 3 places with a syndesmotic disruption lol.

I'll be having that put in on Monday lol. It's been a long and painful week but I know I have a long road ahead. I met with my surgeon today and she told me to be patient with this whole ordeal because I have such a severe injury. How is your ankle now post surgery?

I agree with your surgeon' yes you need a lot of patience. Its a long road to recovery' you will have good and bad days which is where this forum is good. We all cheer each other up and compare progress, mine is swollen and uncomfortable today but think its the heat, its also very frustrating just sitting with your leg elevated all day xx

It definitely is lol. But if I put my foot down for a few minutes it hurts. I had to move around all day going from home to the orthopedist office and back home.I'm paying it for now pain is intense especially at the back and side of my ankle. Before that it was at the front of my ankle towards my foot.

I thought you was in hospital, i was in for 5 days  omg are you meant to be non weight bearing? Before surgery i couldnt stand Someone looking at it let alone putting pressure on it  im guessing your in a cast xx

No they kept me overnight and released me Tuesday afternoon with a splint and crutches. They were gonna operate that morning but determined my foot/ankle was too swollen to operate. So they sent me home with specific orders to elevate as much as possible which I've been doing. They scheduled a pre op appointment with a foot/ankle specialist today as this was 3 days after being released from the hospital and swelling usually maximizes at 3 days. I am strictly non weight bearing and was placed into another splint after being examined today. Pain level is between a 5-7 however the swelling has gone down some and this splint feels better than the one the hospital gave me.

Hopefully once you have had surgery you will be more comfortable, im not in pain just uncomfortable when i get up as it swell right up, its just the sheer boredom getting to me x

hi britta, i cant sleep on my front, and i too suffer with a back back. But ive found that if i put a pillow under my side and sleep on the other side with a pillow between my legs to even body out, it helps me.  hope younget some relief soon.  sx

Make sure your splint wasn't put on too tight. That happened to me where the top of my foot started to puff up and turning yellow and my toes were purple and blue. I went back to the emergency room and have them redo the splint in by the next day almost all the swelling had gone down in my color had returned to almost normal. I've almost finished my 2nd week in my WB, and am on the sofa too with my foot propped up to reduce the swelling. Even tho I have my cast off, I'm still limited in what I can do.

Hey Mary thanks for the reply. I'm doing better now I think just having my foot down and moving around so much yesterday was the cause of my pain. This splint feels a lot better than the one I got from the ER. I also had my girlfriend add some more pillows to my situation so I have 3 pillows directly under my foot and 3 under my knee along with an ice pack on top of the splint. She had ankle surgery last year so she knows what I'm going through. Hope your injury is healing well and thanks for the concern.

I hope so too Liz. I just want to get the surgery over with and start the recovery process. And the boredom is real lol.
