Burning Pain in Back and trunk. Peri or something Else?

Hi all.  I'm new to the forum and I really need to talk.  I am 51 and I believe I am starting perimenopause.  I still get my period every month so my gyno is dismissing that I am in peri.  I have extremely heavy periods, with large clots, gi issues, and the thing that I am so overwhelmingly concerned about is this burning pain in my back.  It's in my spine on the top part between shoulder blades, wraps around my trunk, and in my lower back.  I have a history of lower back pain, but doc is saying it's not able to travel up my spine that something else is going on.  What???  I've had ct scans of abdomen, ultrasound of abdomen, transvaginal us.  The only thing that comes up is a thickening of uterus requiring a D&C.  Has anyone else experienced burning in their back and trunk??  Please let me know, as I feel as if I'm losing my mind.

Oh wow! You've just described what I have been experiencing for the past few weeks. I have been getting pain in my lower back. Then when that subsided I started to feel it in my upper back and around the front of my chest under the ribs too. I thought I was the only one. I have an appointment on Thursday with my practitioner. I think it all may be peri/anxiety related.

Hi...I get burning aching lower back at different times and also my chest and ribcage. It comes and goes and doesnt seem to relate to anything I have done ie exercise. I have read dropping hormone levels can trigger muscle aches. I am so sick of feeling tired and achy. Over the last 6 months I have gone downhill. Can't wait to be finished this whole meno thing sad

Im sorry to hear you feel awful too. I think if my dr confirmed I was peri menopausal I would be relieved and find ways to cope. He keeps telling me I'm no where near menopause based in bloodwork and still getting monthly periods. I'm so anxious

Gosh some doctors make me mad! You aren't menopausal until your periods stop for a year BUT leading up to that you are PERIMENOPAUSAL.

And during this time you can have blood tests show nothing and have regular periods. But your hormones are all over the place which is why you get symptoms. This can go on for years. I thought doctors studied this stuff??

So why do they shut women down saying no its not menopause. ...heres an antidepressant! Rant over lol smile

I am feeling so reassured as I have been getting this too!  Started to wonder what else might be going on in my body.  I have had shoulder problems in the last few months but this just feels weird and moves around my torso.  If any of you find out anything else, please post it on this forum.

I definitely will! You too please let me know if you find anything out. I have been bounced around and dismissed so much. It's so upsetting and exhausting when you spend day Fter day obsessing over your health and symptoms. I feel like I have something terrible.

Janiac I agree about the overthinking. I've been doing Pt and some more stretching and making sure to take caltrate twice a day as well. My doc said Calcium vitamin D & magnesium are important during this time. Feel good!!

Yes I get this also have any of you experienced the lower back ache that bothers your leg or cafe muscle I have been dealing with this for a couple days but I also explained to another lady I was wearing flip flops they were heavier than reg flip flops could thus trigger my lower back symptoms? I didn't notice it until after wearing them for a few days

My lord it's been nagging me but as I said I truly believe it was due to my flip flops I never had it either funny thing I use to wear them all the time now I can't it makes my lower back pain and my leg hurt

I always get that back pain and sometimes it goes into my legs. I can't wear flat flip flops they really bother my back. I usually wear fit flops so much more support for the back. I had a D&c last week and some of my weird dptoms have subsided. Most of the burning in my trunk is gone but who knows if it will come back! It's definitely muscular related for me.
