Burning tongue?

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hi all. I also posted this in the Prozac forum, but thought I should check here as well. Does anyone have issues with burning tongue? It started for me as soon as I got on Prozac (I'm off of it now), but that's also when all of my peri symptoms started. It's very frustrating, gets worse when I'm on my period and particularly after eating. Thanks for any advice.

Jennifer that's a classic peri/meno symptom 😀👍 I think most of us get it.

Just enjoy a cool drink or ice cream know it's a hormonal deal and get your mind doing other things while it passes 🤗 It will get better though!

Hiya! I was posting as well! Try to find. I have been with it since October 😕started off really bad : sweet stuff, fat, coffee, tea. I've been eating plain food for good almost 3 months.

I was cleaning my tongue, drinking only herbal tea, bio plain yogurt was so good and right on the tongue turmeric - that is my best "doctor " can try also cinnamon. These spices are the best work for me. My symptoms are better at night just last week I started eating normal food it's better now. Much, much easier than used to be.

I'm 43 as well. The symptoms are awful, I had no idea it would be like this. Thinking of getting on birth control pills to see if that will help. Hope you get some answers from your specialist. Xxx

Well, I have coil fit in. I started to have unreguler periods may be since March. Sweating all Summer. ..I couldn't sleep and then August, September, my throat was so bad! I went on 2 courses of antibiotics and nothing, then to October my sinusitis got better and burning tongue came along. .. all December - constipation just may be 2-4 days a bit better. Periods unreguler and after new year I'm going to ask for ultrasound just to be on a safe side.

But only the Consultant at Guy's Hospital was listening to me and said that it can be very much because of my hormones.

      Blessings x

Guys, everytime I had a burning tongue it means that I have a stomach problem. I drink mint tea, liquorice tea nad take Gelusil for a day or two. it always seemed to help. Also, i have to be very careful with supplements, since for example magnesium pills will give me that problem.  I hope this helps.

I suffered from what was diagnosed as "burning mouth syndrome" for 2 years. I was told it was rare but known. There was no known cure but I was put on a daily mouth rinse for 6 months which numbed my mouth. I tried everything to help it so I didn't have to use the rinse but nothing worked. One day someone offered me a piece of really strong wintermint gum....WOW!!! Could not believe the difference it made! I chewed gum 24/7 after that, yes even at night. The burning would wake me up and the gum helped. I was concerned early on about aspartame in the gum and found a brand called PUR. No aspartame, natural sweeteners. After about a year and a nalf of chewing gum, my symptoms slowly disappeared. Now it only happens if I eat spicy food. Good luck with your symptoms!!

Thanks! I'll have to try chewing gum. It's a very frustrating feeling. Sometimes burns, sometimes feels numb. It's worse when I'm on my period so I know it's hormones. These symptoms are the pits!

Did you try Turmeric. You can get it from any supermarket. It's very healthy and keeps my mouth normal. My feeling is going now by the time I will get my appointment probably won't need it.

I haven't yet but I will. Do you just sprinkle it on your tongue? I'm not fond of the taste of it but at this point I'll try anything.

Yes, it does work for me. I have to say after 3 months I hate taste too. Also try cinnamon. Very good and nice taste.

Let me know if it works for you.

      Kind regards, Nat
