Can anyone relate?

Do any of you get gas and pressure in your upper chest area? I get this sometimes during my period and sometimes when I am ovulating. It is so frustrating and unnerving. I mentioned it to my previous doctor and they prescribed an antacid. I mentioned it the other day to my new GP and she of course did an EKG which was normal. Does anyone else get this and what have you tried to relieve it?

Oh yes! As a matter of fact I'm just getting over a bout of that tight chest feeling. I have had stomach acid problems for the past few years which I am certain is menopause related . A few days ago I started weaning off PPIs and onto a H2 blocker. Have had the tightness off and on for over the past 4-5 days. I'm sure it's not cardiac because in October I was kept overnight in hospital and had a slew of cardiac tests because of chest tightness. I find that when I burp the right feeling is relieved a bit.
It's very frustrating and when I have it I get anxious and that only makes it worse...then I just want to do nothing but sit on the sofa. That's a vicious cycle in itself because sitting and doing nothing only gives me time to think about how yucky I feel and that makes me more anxious!

Yes I agree! It is so frustrating. All of these symptoms are. I mean, there is not one single symptom that I can say, "Oh yeah, I don't mind this one!" They all stink especially this one. If I can control the anxiety and the digestive upsets, I'd be relatively okay for the most part. These are my two arch nemesis.

Wow! You too?! I've had a worsening pain under my right rib cage and sometimes through into my back. Burps and indigestion. I've had digestive issues most of my life so just thought it was that again. Doc gave me esomeprazole but I think it makes it worse. I'd not thought it may be menopause related! I've been thinking I have a stomach ulcer as life is rather stressful at the moment.
Anyone got any ideas of what helps?

But seriously, removing your bra does help with the aching ribs and back and tightness in chest.

No worries. I wasn't offended by your first post. I thank you for responding at all. It lets me know that I'm not alone.
