    Hi there lovely fellow hipster

I'm almost 9 weeks post op with my first left thr. From experience the first two weeks for aging for me all through the night and first thing in a morning. I couldn't get out of bed unless I'd taken strong painkillers a good hour befofe - this lasted for about 3 weeks or so. I'm still very stiff in a morning now but not so much painful - more of a muscle ache

I'm sure you are just experiencing normal healing and it will settle in time

    Good luck with your recovery

    Gilly x

Vanessa I have completely been out of the loop with the all the EU referendum stuff, and you have already had your op!

Well done you, last one over and done with.

I do remember feeling just like that for the first 10 days or so, you are nearly through the worst of it lovely. Just rest as much as possible, have you got a sheepee? So you don't need to keep getting up for the loo, anything to make you more comfortable. I am sending you a HUGE hug, thinking of you and we are all here with you x

Haha - spoke too soon, that was before I misguidedly sat on the floor to look for something in an old photograph album, then realised that not only sitting on the floor, but getting up off the floor is a definite NO NO !!!!

will sit properly for the rest of the day !!!!

just you go and snuggle up, the rain here is awful !!!!

    Hi Vanessa,

I felt exactly the same as you do after 2nd THR - I don't believe that we have forgotten the first days posrt-op from 1st THR, but that this is just different -

Maybe because the other side has not healed yet but enough to hold you up after 2nd one -

Stiff, uncomfortable, scar felt more painful - sitting down, standing up, getting in and out of bed  -

Are you on blood thining injections?  2nd time around was so much more painful that I actually accused pharmacist of giving me injections with thicker and blunt needles ....

or maybe we have become whimps ????   Nah ... don't think so - it is a double whammy, vanessa - don't forget -

    big warm hug

you will do fine - already are -

    renee

Hi vanessa, oh yes, at least for me. I was definitely stiff and sore! I am so hoping that my next hip won't be as hard on me as the first. Day six you are still very, very early post op....next week will be way better...wishing you well and a speedy recovery.....Hugs....Barb

Hi There, I had mine done the day after yours and I am very stiff first thing.  I wake about 4.00 in pain and have to get up, take some medication, hobble around for a bit, return to bed, read then eventually drop off to sleep then wake up totally stiff again, simiular to before the op.  It does help to take the pain medication before I get up.  At least with all of this rain the bedding plants dont need watering lol.

I've got my 2nd coming up in August and although I can't wait, I'm a little apprehensive because I've heard that no two replacements are the same and I feel I got off lightly with the first one!

I think we forget how long we spent in discomfort and perhaps this is a good thing (like childbirth? ??)

Anyway, keep your chin up, brave lady and time will pass quickly.

    xx

December 21st last year renee. I'm doing really well, but my other leg is really hampering my progress now.

I know, darling - It was a terrible time for me, this in between surgeries -

The advanced diminishing cartilage of left hip came as a surprise at my follow up appointment - there was some decline visible on xray taken 6 months prior and then bone on bone -

Good that you are doing well though - I never felt I did -

      big warm hug

      renee

      all is well, you know

Sorry to hear that renee. How long between your surgeries and are you feeling better now?

My left operated leg is good and strong and that together with my cane, supports my right leg which is useless.

I was due to have a THR in February of this year which had to be cancelled because of a heart condition and retardant for last Thursday, again cancelled due to my heart. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for August.

      Hugs to you xx

Oh, that is okay Gwen -

there were 6 months between the surgeries and I am doing good, darling -

sometimes a wee bit disappointed annd frustrated , but hey, OA pain is gone --

I am sorry to hear about your heart condition ..

se ding you love, light and healing from my heart to yours

Isn't that OA pain awful? It stops you in your tracks.

I am looking to buy an exercise bike for after my next hip op and we went to Decathelon the other day to have a look and I sat on one but can only pedal with my new leg, the other one is almost impossible to get off the ground and the groin pain was unbearable.

      Xx
