Can't understand my test results am I hsv-2 positive or not?

So I went to urgent aid last week because i scratched myself in between my vagina and anus. My period came The next day and things got painful and swollen. No other lesions or sores. The nurse practitioner immediately told me she thought it was herpes. She took a swab and blood. I went back to get the results and the nurse on duty says that I was positive.

I asked to get a copy of the results and they are as followed

Hsv by pcr not detected

Hsv type1 IgG..88 negative

Hsv type 2 igG. .31 negative

Molecular

Hsv-1 by dna . Not detected

(1) specimen negative for hsv-2 by dna amplification

Hsv-2 by dna

Specimen positive for hsv-2 by dna amplification

She drew blood and took a sample from the lesion.

The person who gave me the results was no help.

Why does it say positive with such low results?

I don't understand your results either! They are all over the place. Pcr is dna, and it says you are negative then positive for HSV-2 dna amplification, so which is it? Is this exactly how the results are presented (including line spaces)? Very strange. However, I can tell you that your HSV IgG is both negative, so if you do have it, it is a fairly new infection (within the last 3 months).

This is exactly what I said! I've been wrecking my brain trying to figure these results out. I wish I could post a picture I tried to type exactly as it read.

But you say with those numbers it's fairly new. That's an interesting peace to the puzzle.

I'm married. My husband has had an affair, in anger I did too. This was all well over a year ago. But your comment leads me to believe that someone been into some nonsense....

Well, that all depends on whether you're positive for herpes or not, and so far we can't deduce that properly from your bizarre results! But yeah, if you do have it and your IgG antibodies are still negative, then it means it's newly acquired (body not had time to produce detectable IgG antibodies yet, which is usually by 3 months). For now, you just need to work out if you do actually have herpes or not. You can post photos via the desktop version.

So I called the urgent care this morning and had the nurse break down the results. She says that my blood test were negative, but the swab culture was positive.

      Did she explain these contradictions?

      Hsv by pcr not detected

      (1) specimen negative for hsv-2 by dna amplification

Specimen positive for hsv-2 by dna amplification

Because I don't understand these remarks and it would make me want to retest elsewhere, if I were you.

But if you are truly IgG negative but swab positive, then this is a newish infection acquired within the last 3 months.

I retested at the er about a week ago. I go to see my actual dr Friday and I'm going to bring the old results as well. And all she explained was that my blood was negative but the swab which is more sensitive was positive for hsv-2..... I'll be happy when I get the next set of results. I'll update you then

Looking forward to the update, as I'm now curious to understand your results as well! Hopefully your second results will be much clearer, without any contradictory waffle, so that you know exactly where you stand.
