Carpal Tunnell

I had carpal tunnell surgery on both hands at the same time and now it is a year later and my pointers and thumbs are still  numb.   and my scars feel very tight & pulling.   Is this normal, will it ever go away?  Should I have another nerve test done ?

you should be sent for therapy. you should be doing exercises at home too.  I'm trying to avoid surgery. my husband had it done twice on both hands and it's been years now and it is okay. good luck and take care

I did go to therapy, I am now able to pick up things without dropping them, however my fingers are always numb and feel like little sausages.. I also bought a handwax treat kit where I can soak my hand in parafin wax. .I wish they would feel normal.

I am sorry to hear that the feeling has not come back after 1 year.I had my right hand done just over 2 weeks ago and I have not seen an inprovement. It was a grade 5 when it was done and was told that there was no certainty that it would improve very much. The one improvement is that I can now sleep and the pain does not wake me.

My scar is simply perfect you can hardly tell.I do rub cream in to keep it moist.I am back on the farm just done 3hours on the tractor

Perhaps you should go and see the specialist again

Well it is alittle uncomfortable, they will ask you if the pain is too much. I kept a positive attitude and was praying so it took my mind off what was being donne.  Just pray it works.

Please don't worry about test,it's a little electric shock and takes 10 mins if that,so don't loose any sleep thinking about ."Courage Mon Brave"

If you have the job done, apart from the needle that numbs the area you won't feel anything until it comes to several hours later and then it's all covered up and you just have to be careful washing taking care not to get dressing wet.Mine has been done 21/2 weeks and the scar is hardly visable just keep it moist with E45 .

      Hope this helps

I plan on ptaying a lot.  Do they give you the results that day?

Mary,  I did not have cortizone shots, I wish I tried before getting the surgery, as stated before on both hands my pointers and thumbs are numb, have little feeling in them.   No you don't get results the day of the test, the dr. who did the test mentioned to me that she thought my carpal tunnell was mild but not to quote her.

thank you so much. everyone are telling me how bad it is. Did you get cortsone shots before you had surgery?

I used silicone creams for scaring in Another area. But best used right after...(scar zone) should give it a try..
