I have just had CTS and am 3. Weeks down the line, can do light duties like brushing my teeth, but liftting is an issue, ie a mug of tea is near on impossible.  I am a waitress in a very busy restaurant and am really worried about returning back to work, will see specialist on Wednesday and am quite nervousness about it, miss my work but can't see me lift heavy plates of food and trays full of  glasses or lifting in furniture !!!!

I have heard of this before with the older, traditional Carpel Tunnel Release surgery.  I had both wrists done with endoscopic surgery and where I live that's pretty much what is being done.  The surgery takes 15 minutes.  There is one stitch and for two weeks I wore a large padded bandage, but could pretty much do anything, consistent with keeping the bandage clean.  I write this in case anyone here is considering having the surgery.  To respond to Kimberly, I knew someone to go 6 weeks before being able to return to work.  Ultimately he could do everything.

It sounds like it might be a longer recovery than expected. I am worrying about my gardening business as I will be having one hand done November and the other in Jan and am hoping to be sorted to start work again.....and digging in march. Keep in touch about how you get on with specialist. Hopefully your strength will start returning soon
