Yes it can happen - especially during first 6 weeks of healing.  How long ago was your surgery?  Do you have a standard lens or premium lens/toric.

It doesn’t usually have as much impact if standard monofocal lens but a premium lens (more so if a toric lens to correct astigmatism) needs to be perfectly in place.

They can rotate it back by means of surgery or you can opt for a lasik treatment.

    Is your vision affected ?

Hi had surgery cataract and vitrectomy at the same day on 3/4/2018 and it’s a normal lens and my vision is ok but at the right side of my eye it’s strange.do you know what they can do please

When you say strange, can you be a bit more specific?

The reason I'm asking is you mentioned in you original post that the problem is in the corner of your eye. What is it that you have noticed? And when did you notice it?

I notice it last week and the corner of my eye it’s like a glare and shimmer bubble it’s hard to explain, are you seeing something

Thanks for the clarification. Are you experiencing the "empty space" syndrome it happens because the replacement lens is smaller than your natural lens . I call it binocular vision and the doctors say your brain will compensate and adapt to it over time. It occurs in the corners of both eyes or sometimes only one eye and like your situation it's very difficult to explain but happens to a lot of people after lens replacements.

Hi yes that exactly what it sounds like but my optician check my eye and he said it has slightly moved

As Sue.An has indicated, the lens can be (relatively) easily put in the correct position, if needed.

However, I am curious about why you are not making an appointment with your surgeon instead of the hospital to check the problem.

You should make an appointment with your cataract surgeon for his opinion on what’s best to correct.  Did your vision change or was it like this from the beginning.  The lenses don’t usually rotate once healing has taken place (about 6 weeks) and since you are 6 mo  from surgery curious if what you are noticing has been there since the beginning or something recent.

Are you from UK and the surgery done on NHS?

Yes NHS Glasgow and it was not there at the beginning and I’ve not bumped  my head it’s very strange one

Shona141 - see Salty’s comments.  What you are experiencing may not be because lens shifted (and was that diagnosis confirmed by your surgeon)?

It is often when pupil dilated beyond the lens and/or edge glare when a light hits the square edge of your IOL it can cause a shimmer or flash of light.

If it’s one of those 2 reasons there isn’t anything that can be done.  As one she’s the pupil dilates less so that problem takes care if itself.  There are drops that constrict the pupils you can purchase but they wear off in a few hours.  But helpful if condition is annoying.

Yes that’s exactly how my right eye feels and the optician noticed my lens has moved slightly and he will contact the hospital and what is the name of the solution please and it’s doesn’t help that my eyes are so dry just now,so I’ve been wearing a eye mask twice a day and thank you 😊

I live in Canada so these drops may come under another name in the UK.  However I strongly suggest you see your surgeon.  Not sure an optician is going to be able to tell if a lens has shifted.  If you are experiencing severe dry eye that too can affect vision.  There are over the counter drops to manage that.  I like Systane Ultra but there are several brands of artificial tears you can try.

Pupil constricting drops - not sure you can get over the counter and in any case you should talk that over with your surgeon or opthamologist and get their professional opinion.  Don’t substitute anyone’s suggestions or opinion here on the forums for their advice.  Everyone here is a patient like you who has undergone cataract surgery or seeking advice for their surgery.   Some of us read up on this but are in no way professionals.   So please do make an appointment with one.

Since I cannot include links here is a copy and paste from the Healio .com site:

“Drops may be practical for pupil management after refractive surgery.

Topical phentolamine mesylate may be an effective nonsurgical solution.

Pilocarpine, which constricts pupils, and brimonidine, which inhibits dilation, are the topical agents that have been used in the past for pupil management. Phentolamine mesylate (PM), a miotic drop, appears to last longer, about 12 hours.”

I agree completely with Sue Ann, what you are describing is pretty much what I've been experiencing over the last 6-7 months since my surgeries , right down to the severe dry eyes. I've had other issues including double vision and reduced visually clarity in both eyes, i.e. my vision was better before the surgery although with corrective glasses. I'm in the US and we don't use square type lenses here so the pupil dilation issue you are experiencing comes across a little different than what I call binocular vision. I've been sent to a retina specialist by my surgeon to rule out other issues. Here's the bottom line as I understand it. Eyes are complex organs and people are different we heal at different rates for various reasons. I would think long and hard before I went back for any type of corrective measures that involves surgery. I would strongly suggest you contact your surgeon and explain your concerns and if you aren't satisfied with the response see another unrelated surgeon who specializes in problems after cataract surgery for a second opinion. Sometimes less is better. I'm currently on prescription eye drops for dry eyes, my eyes are healing ever so slowly and as I've said before in another post if I had to do it over again I'd keep my cataracts and glasses but what's done is done. I'm keeping my impulses to jump on the first suggestion to fix this in check and following the advice of the many doctors I've seen. which is basically wait. The older we are the longer it takes for our bodies to heal, that's just a fact of life. Whatever you choose to do I wish you luck.

      Hi Shona,

Sounds like the same as me except mine is not as frequent. After a long walk my right eye has a shimmer/flicker just off center, Mine lasts about a minute then stops. My surgeon says that can happen but hasn't suggested any solution.

BTW, this is still happening 18 months after the op.

Did you get yours done in Gartnavel?

      Jim
