Morning Mace; no I have not Actually had the therapy for myself; but wondering, as someone who practices  CBT, what did you think.....do you feel that you will be able to manage your way of thinking/acting?     Bron

    Hello Mace,

Yes I had CBT when I had a severe dpression a few years ago, before I developed Fibro, it was quite helpful in that situation, and I eventually overcame my depression. When I was diagnosed with Fibro Doc suggested CBT, this was also a telephone based therapy. It soon became clear this would not be helpful to me in this situation. I was then referred to a pain clinic where they ran a course based around ACT a form of Mindfulness. This is what I am doing at the moment, and I am finding it VERY good. I think if I had not already done the CBT it would have been helpful. Also if yours is not telephone based it might be more helpful anyway, Wow, what a long post, apologies for that. So what I am saying ( I think), it was not helpful to me, for reasons stated, but I certainly think it can be another tool in our fight against Fibro.

    Take care, Anne

    Hi Mace

I had CBT in Nov 2014 after finally getting my diagnosis of Fibro in Aug 2014. I have been suffering for over 20yrs.

I really found CBT a helpful process and had made me more of a confident and positive person after my six sessions.  I learnt alot about myself and how to cope with outside stresses from others.

I recommend to all......How did you find your first session of CBT?

    Hi Mace.

I have had a full course of CBT.

I found it useful at the time but the further I get away from the sessions I had it seems to be harder to follow the info given.

It wasd hard at the time as the lady I saw hadn't got a clue what fibro was or anything about it, I was telling her the little I knew, as I had only just been diagnosed when I saw her.

    Hope it works for you.

    Take care and gentle hugs

Hi Mace yes I am going through it with my counsellor at present. It has been a slow progress, as he is hard to get get appointments with. I am finding it very useful, as I am quite an anxious person and he is giving me techniques to deal with it. I have found myself trying some of these techniques and I find them very useful. I think it is important to find the right teacher who you can relate to and trust they know what they are are talking about.

It may be useful to take refresher courses in the futureas we all get lazy and forgetful and slip into old bad habits.

    Best of Luck

    Meg
