Hi All. After 12 weeks on generic Fluoxetine (Prohexal) 20mg, My doctor and I decided to try the original medication to see if it gets rid of my niggly side effects still lingering as well as some residual depressive symptoms such as flat affect. I think I improved about 70% with the generic but I am extremely sensitive towards medication and very anxious about any changes, so my doc agreed to try the original before trying a dose change or adding something else to the mix.
Today is the 3rd day of taking the original 20mg tablet of Prozac.
Yesterday unfortunately I had a bit of a setback. My brother went in for a routine sinus surgery but I was with him and he stayed over at my house last night as he couldnt drive home. He was feeling quite naseous and in pain after surgery and a bit groggy and I was next to his bed when I suddenly just got this wave of panic or a near fainting episode. I had to go sit in the bathroom to breath. I then left his room and walked down the hall to our nurse at work. While walking there my vision disappeared, I got really sweaty and my ears were ringing really loudly. I almost collapsed when I got to her door. It was locked as she had already gone home. SO I just sat down and it was awful, it felt like it was a dream. I took a few minutes, then I got up and had my BP checked which wsa a bit low but it always is (105/70). Then I felt fine and went back to work.
Last night it almost happened again, when I was helping my brother in the bathroom. But I recognized it sooner and lay down on the couch so it passed really quickly.
It is such bad timing because now I obviously question whether it is related to the change over to the original. My gut says to me it is anxiety related, and that seeing my brother ill and vulnerable and knowing I was responsible was too much for me. My doc also says its unlikely to be the meds.
What do you guys think? Amazing how such small things can become major triggers!
I should not be experiencing terrible side effects just changing brands right? I know some people have bad side effects changing from original to generic but I am hoping this will not be the case with me.
Any input and reassurance will be appreciated.

I'm with John and also a long timer taking SSRI's. Knowing what I know now, I would have never started taking them. They cause more problems than solutions. Big thing with them is very small tapers or adjustments slowly. You will find alot of peoples testimonies on Prozac should be illegal on Facebook. Valuable information for many other's and tapering, symptoms etc.
