Chronic anal fissure/rectole prolapse

I have recently been diagnosed with a chronic anal fissure and been prescribed some muscle relaxant cream. However after applying I now feel like my prolapse (rectole) is worsening. Could this cream make my prolapse come back?

Same problem for me, but no, the Rectogesic (which I think you have) wouldn't affect anything other than the anal muscle. For what it's worth, it didn't really help me, gave me an instant headache as well, but that's a documented side effect. I've more or less healed my CAF after about 5 months; - still have to be careful as it's sensitive but generally much less painful. Your prolapse (I have one too) gets much worse if your stools aren't soft.

Thanks Susan...that's eased my mind a little...now just have to change my diet to a high fibre one..

Hope you are feeling better. I've not increased the fibre - apparently that causes bulk - instead I take stool softeners and occasional Fibogel - which I don't like, but it does help. My fissure has healed to some degree so don't give up hope. Soaking in hot water helps and always wash - that helped too and I made sure that the area was absolutely dried properly. I am managing to keep this under control with careful attention to hygiene, diet, stool softeners and stopping worrying about it all the time!!! - thepain was unbearable at one point. Now I am off the painkillers but still very very careful I don't tear again. You never know what causes the problem in the first place but I have a tag now too. Hope you feel better soon

Dear Mandy and others sharing notes on the anal fissure problem:

You can heal yourselves in a matter of days. My son had a horrible problem and he is now rid of it.

Just go on the web and look for something called Hemtab. This makes the problem vanish like magic!!!

Also a paste of aloe vera (fresh from the leaf) cabbage leaves and calendula leaves and flowers applied on the hurting area, give relief. And, also make a hot butt bath with salt and coconut oil and soak your butt for about 20 minutes or so before applying the above paste.
