chronic discharge

Posted , 3 users are following.

I was diagnosed as having Vag. Atrophy and was told my chronic discharge was due to high ph (7.4) and nothing can be done about it. I have had this over three years with many different gynocologists giving me the same answer. Just estriol for treatment which I have been on and off with no change in discharge. Does anyone else have similar problems and what are they doing about it?

Did no one suggest dietary changes or taking probiotics?

I did an entire regime of probiotics - it actually became worse. I have made changes to my diet. I recently quit white sugars but I think I could cut white pastas, potatoes, etc. Need help with what should and shouldn't eat since I keep finding different answers. Suggestions?

Sounds as though you have already researched and come up with the usual conflicting dietary theories. All agree that sugar, processed foods and stress aren't good. After reading your latest post I see you have tried acupuncture and chinese herbs. I've gone that route myself for fibroids discovered at the start of menopause (was referred to an oncologist who recommended a total hysterectomy!). The fibroids shrunk by half after the herbs. Was it because of the herbs? Don't know, but I know I had enough sense to never go back to that crazy oncologist. My gyno said my body was responsible for shrinking the fibroids (?) They all seem to be groping in the dark (so to speak).

I have never measured my PH, but have always assumed it was higher than it should be. I have occassional discomfort, but can live with my current condition. You have my complete sympathy. Back when I was having chronic discharge and incredible burning & itching ( for 5 years) it was the Flagyl that finally saved me.

I'm not so sure how common this is. If so why hasn't an effective treatment been discovered? I don't think there's much will on the part of the medical establishment though the drug companies could certainly make $ if it is that common. Viagra certainly is a money maker.

I am considering trying Premarin cream (strongly recommended by my latest gyno, but I am leery) for the VA. Will post results if I do try it.

Amazing they can put a man on the moon and come up with untold medical cures, but this seems to be a "just live with it" condition. I think you're right to keep searching for what may hopefully work for you. Good luck with the Ayurvedics.

    Hi Gin

did you have a pap smear too ... As i have VA ( due to post menopause) also use estriol ovules ( ovestin) for that and they wrok very well for me.

but on my smear i was told by my Gyno i had Cytolitic Vaginosis ( no odour type of BV) my only symptom was discomfort and watery white discharge ..( it sort of feels like thrush but isnt)

also i had thrush too .. But was treated for both and now all okay

all i can say is that - i really feel for you as its so annoying and ruins your quality of life

i was treated with Clindamycin vaginal ovules for 3 nights followed by Laurimic ( for the thrush) Ovules for 3 nights and it was repeated 4 weeks later and all cured..

i do check my Vag PH witn Eco Care Vaginal PH home testing sticks now

Thanks Jay, of course I have had multiple pap smears with different gynocologists (+3 different lab tests). I had a MRI because I wanted to make sure the fibroid embolization I had was not relevant. I also was in for surgery for uterine polyps but nothing was found. I've also twice taken antibiotics, also a regime of ortho fem probiotics, and vaginal fem probiotics. It seems I've tried everything but it's never quite the right thing. Now working with an ayurvedic on diet, breathing, ayurvedic powders, etc. Before that I tried accupuncture and chinese medicine....  this is also all coupled with hemorrhoids which make me wonder how this is all connected. No physician in the Netherlands has given me any indication of being able to change my situation. One said, it is common, live with it.... ugh!
