Hi everyone
I just wanted to share my experience so far since starting citalopram 1 week ago.
Ok so it’s not actually been to bad. Side effects that I have so far experienced are. Increased bouts of anxiety, mostly during the night or early morning, it quite often wakes me and I feel quite restless and panicked, but can usually regain some calm through breathing and positive mind thinking ( it’s just a side effect I say to myself ) I have experienced occasional dizzy spells when I have got up to soon but this has not been to bad. Soon after taking the tablet I get a full feeling ( blocked ear ) which hangs around for an hour or so. It’s a little bit annoying but it’s ok. And I have a sore throat and occasional sneezing. I’m still occasionally experiencing nausea but it’s much milder than i had before and my appetite started to come back a little after day 3. I hadn’t had an appetite for over 3 weeks since the anxiety started and had lost a lot of weight.
I always wake up in fear obviously because I don’t want to have a bad day, but the past 2-3 days I have had better days.
This may sound pretty extensive for side effects experienced, however they have not been as bad as how I felt before.
I was quite pleasantly surprised at how quickly my appetite came back which obviously helped my energy levels a little. So fingers crossed this only continues to get better.
I know lots of people take citalopram at different times of the day but I have personally stuck with this routine.
Around 6:30am I wake, i immediately head downstairs and drink some water. I then take a probiotic.
I am not particularly hungry in the mornings at the moment but I do force a little food down, maybe 1 peice of toast, some porridge or 1 weetabix. I then take my citalopram after between 7-7:30am.
