Hi my friends!
I just want to say thank you all for this roller coaster journey on this med. I could not have done this without you all. I’m doing good. I’m really almost back to myself.
I have to add I’m very glad I did not up my dosage. I hung in there and was patient. “thank you Lois and katecogs” Ben you are my buddy and Michelle enjoy your travels and thank you. I’m sorry if I’m leaving someone out. I started with10mg and went down to 5mg then back to 10mg and I’m staying here. I wish I found this drug earlier. The side affects are not pretty they come and go. But the outcome is awesome. I just wish everyone success. I’m here for help and suggestions.

It may be that you came off meds too quick. You need to withdraw slowly from them - took me a year to taper off from 20mg and I avoided all tapering side effects.
Also it’s always worth lowering your dose first to see if helped with the headaches and pain as often adjustments are all that’s needed.
It can take many months before the correct dose finally kicks in and starts working when you first start out too.
For now though, if you’re suffering from tapering withdrawal I suspect you’re getting brain zaps, dizziness and nausea - it’s often a good idea to reinstate a small dose then work back up again, wait there some weeks to settle then taper off slowly.
The side effects won’t hurt you but can make you feel ill. They’re normal if you come off too quick or go cold turkey.
You should also always consult your doctor when starting / stopping meds - it’s up to you what you want to do as it’s yoyr body, but your Doc should know what you decide.

Joseph,
I definitely concur with Katecogs. I had originally lowered my dose from 10mg to 5mg and had to go back up to 10mg and I felt better but as I said it takes time.

I have an appointment tomorrow I am very concerned about touching cirtalapram even at a lower dose I was told by a friend who takes escirtalapram 5mg which is a sister drug to cirtalapram and she said she's had no unbearable side effects so I'll mention that to my doctor. I've still got this weird feeling in my body like a lightheadedness and tingling feeling all over but I am pleased to say it not as bad as yesterday this is day 5 now without cirtalapram I'm scared of these nasty headaches I got from taking it don't know what to do hopefully doc give me a new drug one that doesn't give terrible side effects just have to see what he says doc tomorrow thanks for advice.

Hey been to doctors this morning as expected he was a little annoyed told me he could of helped me solve coming off cirtalapram if effects was getting too unpleasant anyway he suggested as I have been without cirtalapram since last Sunday it's best to just stay off them as withdrawels will ease every day that pasts however he has prescribed me new medication called Fluoxetine 20mg never heard of these before so hope the effects are less dramatic. I did ask can I just stay on one anti depressant before this new drug affects I'm unsure about and taking mirtazipine as well is not good but he said no let's still to the plan of what he wants me to do. I also used to take Alfuzosin 10 mg slow release tabs they are to help my bladder control as I was told I have a bladder of a 60 year old lol they are in my opinion the worst side effects ever be aware if you get offered them by your doctor I still have them on repeat but I don't touch them. Well let's see how these new tablets get on with me and hopefully side effects are low but thank you all for your advice your all very kind. X

Well done for going to the GP, good luck with your new medication regime and please let your GP know before you decide to do anything else with regards to what you do or don't take, he may have a solution that is a better option to help you with any side effects rather then just making yourself worse in attempt to get better . You will make it through this you just need that sometimes hard to find thing called patience

Hi will, great to read your story & so glad your doing well.
I’ve been on citalopram 20mg for just over 4 weeks. (I’ve previously been on it before but reduced & came off it, month later I was back on it).
I took a month off work to try & get back to myself & let the medication do it’s trick! It worked previously so I was hoping for a quick fix. Went back to work yesterday on reduced hours (3 hours!) - managed the first day back ok, today I’ve been terrible. Shakey, sweaty, tension headache, dizziness, mind racing & thinking alsorts. I was counting down the clock til I could leave today. I’m hoping this is just a ‘bad day’ but I feel like I’m never going to get better or back to being me. 🙁

Thanks Laura. I never thought I’d stick it out. I had so many side effects that freaked me out.
I hope you have cut out caffeine. Start going for walks every day. I’ve read that when you’ve been on it on the past and come off going on it again the symptoms are sometimes more pronounced. You have to be positive! I know easier said than done. Unfortunately You are having one of those blips. I know that sweaty shaky feeling. Go for a walk after work put headphones on with good music or a book to absorb yourself. The walking every day helps with your sleeping and getting rid of that anxiety that’s giving you the shakes . Keep me posted of how you are.
