I e been taking it again for 8 days and I'm still feeling awful anxiety has calmed down abit now and then.but my mood is really low still. no appetite at all. Will my mood lift once meds kick in again ? thank u

Are you seriously saying your Dr. told you to stop taking the maximum dose of 40mg cold turkey after 6 years ,or did you mistake what he/she was saying? I just can't believe that any Dr. would tell anyone to just stop. Everyone and his dog knows you have to taper down very very slowly because of antidepressant discontinuation syndrome which brings serious withdrawals and is a very serious.Who said that 2 days reduces levels to 50%, that's not true, and did the Dr. tell you to go back to 40mg again? If a Dr. has been telling you all this I'd seriously consider going to another one.
You would be having serious withdrawals from stopping, and now having increased anxiety from reinstating which is going to take some time to settle again.

hello yes I'm being deadly serious I was getting heart palpitations so went to see my doctor and she said stop them for 6 days and we will do an ecg to see if it was the high dose of citalpram causing the heart palpitations but I didn't take it for 3 days and I couldn't cope with the side effects so I restarted them. went back to doctor a week later said I've restared the citalopram coz of side effects. and now she wants me to go down to 30mg and that would probably stop the palpitations as she thinks the higher dose of citalooram are making me have heart palpitations . I just really want to feel better now . I was fine until she told me to stop 😪 thank you for your reply.

Hi Cheryl, high dosages of Citalopram were found to have an effect in electrical activity of the heart and the maximum dose was reduced to 40mg. I can see why she wants to give you an ECG because of your palpitations and concerns about your heart, but she should know you can't just stop even for a couple of days, that's absolutely ridiculous. I'm not a medical expert, or a Dr. but couldn't she have done the ECG without stopping or reducing,I don't know, but I do know you can't just stop or reduce in large increments,it has to be done very very cautiously and very slowly especially after your brain has been used to the medication for 6 years. I'm not surprised you had to retake it,but going down and back up can bring terrible problems. She's trying to solve the heart problems without even thinking of the consequences of messing with the Citalopram,I'm appalled she has done that to you. Have you had other symptoms other than the palpitations because anxiety also can cause them.?
