yesterday my doctor but me on the meds i haven't took it yet am a little scared ive been struggling with depression for a good three years i was so embarrassed no support but i said am going to take this journey and get the help i need for me and do this for myself and kids ..... can anyone tell me about there experience with the meds!

    Hi Sherelle,you've taken the most important step and seen your Dr. and got medication after suffering for 3 years with depression. Is anxiety or depression your main condition, as taking these types of medications in the beginning can heighten anxiety or make depression worse. Don't know if you discussed that with your Dr,but it might be better to start them in the new year when Christmas is over for those reasons,but that is your decision. The first few weeks and months can be rough, so you should have some support from family or friends if you can. Unfortunately there is very little support from health services,but you want to be looking at having some counseling alongside treatment if you can. Try to eat healthy over Christmas and avoid alcohol as alcohol is a depressant and will make things worse, especially with antidepressants. You don't say if you're taking 10 or 20mg. Good luck.
