Citalopram - Daily journal

Hey guys and gals! Erm... I'm not sure if this seems a little self indulgent but I'm going to do it anyway because I'd like to think it might be helpful.

I've been reading other threads about citalopram, anxiety, depression etc and although there are some really helpful comments of support, ultimately people post here because they're experiencing side effects or worried etc and are seeking help. It can seem almost like a sea of scary experiences. People don't tend to come here to share their positive or rather unremarkable experiences (there are some floating about mind). So I thought I'd start a thread that journaled my own experience whether it be filled with awful side effects or hardly any at all, but one that is a true reflection of a lived experience.

I came here initially wanting to find reassurance before starting on citalopram and had hoped to find something like this, but didn't. So here I am. Hope this is okay, and I hope it's helpful.

I have been dealing with strange symptoms for 14 yrs now. After tons of tests doctors decided it's anxiety. But I don't get anxious then they symptoms come they just pop up for no reason and if they last long enough they make me anxious. Went on Amitriptyline way back with occasional xanax and finally it seemed to get better. Just a few days here or there with some bad runs. Weaned off the amitriptyline and just did the xanax when bad. Now for the last 2 months all symptoms back again pretty bad. Tried the amitriptyline for a month all it did was make me gain 8lbs. Talked to therapist and she told me to stop that and told me to take 5mg citalopram in AM with .5 xanax then 25 mg in PM with .5 xanax. The faint and shaking feeling has pretty much stopped but still feel off and weird. Strange head pressure and just symptoms I can't explain but at least not the feeling faint part. Now she just said she is going to up the citalopram and lower the xanax. Really hoping something makes this go away I have had enough already!!!
