Hey guys, I hope you both start feeling better soon. It does take 4-6 weeks to really kick in. I know you feel like you can't cope but you will gradually start to feel better. It is worth hanging in there.

Ive been on citalopram for a year now and I can't believe the change in me. I'm so much happier. I still have issues but my medication (and therapy), help me deal with them.

stay strong and if you need someone to talk to, give me a shout.

Just look after yourself and listen to what your body is saying. I don't know if you're at work but if you are, take time out of the day to be 'still'. I would spend my lunchtimes in a coffee shop just to get away from everything and be in my own little world. When you get home, spend time alone. I'd finish work, have dinner, jump into bed and sleep/read/meditate/surf the net. It was just me time and it helped me out no end. Also try mindful meditation, you can download an app called headspace, I highly recommend it.

It does get better, it doesn't seem like it now, but it does. Hang in there. x

H I have been on citalopram on and off over ten years. I was reduced to 10mg from 20mg to try see if a lower dose would still be suitable but it is defo not. Ive had to go back to docs to get my dosage back to 20mg. It does work I just need to remind myself alot. I am also going through a rough patch with the anxiety and depression. This happens to me for no reason which is the frustarting part. Since going back too my 20 mg, I am on my tenth day now Ive felt like I have gone worse cant stop crying feel totally out of it. to be honest i feel like i have a really bad dose of flu with the energy just not my happy go lucky self which cant come back quick enough. My personality and energy just get sucked right out of me. I always need reassurance that this is normal. xx

Thank you jeanette...did you too feel like you are detached and can't focus or concentrate...how do i get more positive?

I can only be honest hun even though its very hard is just go with the flow the bad and good feelings. meaning if you want a good cry have one cos hey who knows it might help recovery a release. Yes I do feel very detached and cannot concentrate but i sometimes get worried about it like i will never get back to myself but we will. Sometimes I have a good cry and then gather myself sit down with warm drink and try to rationalise it and tell myself the only way is up that i have done this many times and done it. so know that it works. Also we have side effects to the meds which we already have but unfortunately the meds exaggerate the symptoms. So I think really its just a case of being reassured which helps and go with it. Its not nice but sometimes if i really want too cry and keep stopping it its so exhausting than it already is and sometimes you feel like a light fuzzy feeling like something been lifted from your shoulders well i do as it sends my shoulders all tense which i also suffer from like all my muscles tight. We will get there we will. xx
