Clinic update, talked to NP

Posted , 3 users are following.

Just talked to a nurse practitioner about the UTI.  She told me the name of the bacteria involved and it isn't Ecoli, which I'd read could be helped by d-Mannose.  The type I have is susceptible specifically to Cipro.  This NP is the nice, thorough one whom I saw for my sinus infection.  She made me feel reassured.  I'm following the Cipro instructions about timing, food, etc. to the letter!  I continue to appreciate your reassurance and am always so glad we can help each other here.  Praying and hoping I'll be better soon.

Is it a 3 day regimen? Hopefully you will be feeling better by start of week. Rest well this weekend.

It's a 7-day regimen, 500 mg twice a day, 12 hours apart.  I do hope things will improve soon!  Thanks!

Glad you got reassurance from an NP Elizabeth. Hope you start to feel better soon. This heat doesn't help with uti's does it. Plenty of fluids for you hun, but I expect you know that anyway!!! Take care. xxx

Thanks... water is all that I'll drink right now!  I do think that the combination of heat and menstruation brought this on, and the NP agreed.  Not a good mix!  xx

Here in the U.S. They say cranberry juice is good for uti's. Do you hear that in the UK?

I did some reading about that, hoping it might be helpful.  Some say it helps, others the opposite.  I would be interested to know if anyone here has tried it with any success.  I've been drinking lots of water.

Cranberry juice without sugar or the diet cranberry juice because it has less sugar. Avoid sugar, pasta, bread, rice and anything sweet.

Thanks, Sochima.  I am avoiding all of those foods.  It is tricky because I have Crohn's and can't eat too much fiber or overdo it on vegetables, but I'm coming up with meals that are nourishing.  It will be a relief when this is over and gone.
