Clock for second op ticks very slowly

I had my left eye done on 16 February and a follow up with a nurse a month later. I had heard from friends, who went to the same hospital, that the op on the other eye would be only 6-12 weeks after the first. Having heard not a peep, despite getting a similar impression at the nurse consultation, I phoned up in case I had been mis-filed, only to be told that the 18 week clock was reset from the nurse consultation. That meant my second op could be as late as mid-July.

Really surprised, as for for six months I'd not wearing correct glasses, especially as that is pointed up as a difficult time;in my case for my hobby of choral singing that requires good sight for small print.

IMO op was good, but NHS beaurocracy lacks sense.

A fortnight to go now for second Op. Of late the operated eye sometimes is getting watery  and itchy. Is it worth seeing someone abput that before the op day?

Wow. Im so sorry. I had to wait 2 weeks, and I was miserable. My job is very vision intensive and I had a difficult time driving without my Rx sunglasses, and having one lense out to read was extremely challenging.

I'm in the US, but I would think for safetys sake they would not let anyone go longer than 3weeks.

    Good luck

Forgot to say that this time the drops regimen is entirely diferent from last time; no antibiotic, but two lots of anti- inflammatories, onw non-steroidal.

Got a scare last evening, when TV watching gave double vision unless I used the February operated eye alone. It's fine this morning after sleep though.

Not sure why the drops would be different. Did you check with the pharmacy on that?

I used one set of drops for both procedures.

Yes, I am also wondering how long it will take to get my 2nd eye done.

I have an appointment with a nurse about eight weeks after the op on the first one.  I wonder if the nurse will have the authority to authorise the op on the next eye.  I didn't realise how bad the next eye is until I had the first one done, and am waiting eagerly for it to be operated on!

Ask her to put you down for any cancellations that come up.

I had my first one done in mid August and the second was not going to be until January but got a cancellation in early October.
