    Hi Vanessa,

snacks, darling - food is usually not all that great and there are many hours between feedings ... and a favorite non-alcoholic beverage -

    Hi Vanessa

i was told by my hospital to bring clothes to wear during the day. I took loose tracksuit bottoms and I bought some big knickers a size bigger than normal, because inevitably there is a slight swelling and a dressing to think of. Also comfy shoes to wear to go home in. The ward I was in wasn't overly warm, so a warm dressing gown and slippers - for those trips to the loo!

very best wishes for your op and a speedy recovery.

3 nightdresses, I took 2 and threw up on both.

    supportive shoes/ slippers ( with backs ),

paper, pencil, comb, something to occupy you,e.g.

    book,kindle,music.

The anaesthetic reaction, they should have kept me

in the hospital gown longer. It was only bile, they gave

me an anti sickness injection and I was ok.

not everyone has a reaction, try not to worry. My daughter

got me an extra nightie from a Chinese shop, 5 euros!

ps The sense of humour is the most important

      thing to pack!

Haha were you under general anisthetic? Iv never had a reaction to that before so i should hopefully be ok. Sorry to hear it made you ill

It was probably me, cos I am allergic to anti inflams and

painkillers. This time was a spinal, but previous time GA.

I had a reaction both times. Probably 2 nighties are enough

      for you!

      Sarah,

Spinal was great - less intrusive than Epidural.

A few seconds after the injection, I could feel absolutely nothing below the waist.  You have the option on just how much sedation you want from fully out, to none at all (my choice), and recovery is reportedly much quicker.

I thought spinal and epidural were the same? Ill deffo opt for fully out though

Dear Sarah - so did I, so I questioned the young Dr when he came to do it, and apparently they are different, in the levels of tissue they go through. apparently eipdural is not a deep as spinal if I remember correctly.

So the spinal goes further into your back? Can you feel it going in? Just quite frankily im terrified of needles

No pain just a pinch. Not as bad a taking blood or a vaccination.
