Clots with period

I’m 47, still get my period regularly though I’ve had the odd very long cycle. I am fairly certain I’m in perimenopause.  Anyway, today I passed a clot the size of a toonie roughly.  I have been passing others that are smaller too. Is this normal?

You have to be in Canada, not sure how many in here will know what a to one is....but I've had the same, Im 46 with regular periods.

Yes, I am Canadian and a toonie is a coin worth $2. It’s larger than a quarter.

What is a toonie? I have passed some the size of my palm. I just turned 47 and think I have been in perimenapause for at least 6 years. Last 3 years heavy clots and flooding so bad for 2nd and 3rd days of 7 or 8 that I can not leave the house on those days and my heart pounds with anemia.. Now, I stopped my period 4 days ago after a 8 day period and started again today. Ugh.

    Hi Sandra

Yes. Sounds normal. I'm 50 this year, and no period since October of last year. Had heavy bleeding all my life, except for 12 years of bc. At the end I'd have VERY irregular periods, and such bad bleeding when laying down it was AWFUL! I know this is VERY frightening sometimes. Hoping this will be better when it's all over.

LOL! I have no idea what a toonie is! Is it a pancake?

When my periods started getting wonky that was the first sign, clots. Then I would get brown stringy stuff too later on.

I don't think it's anything to worry about unless they get out of hand, then you can get anemic. I would just mention it to your doc next time you have your check up.

I see my toonie comment has some of you puzzled! It’s a $2 coin larger than a quarter. 😃

Thanks so much for the reassurance. I was scared.  This stage of life is downright stressful.

If it’s ongoing,  I will get it checked out.  Hoping it’s not that.
