Clots with period

I’m 47, still get my period regularly though I’ve had the odd very long cycle. I am fairly certain I’m in perimenopause. Anyway, today I passed a clot the size of a toonie roughly. I have been passing others that are smaller too. Is this normal?

Hi Sandra
Yes. Sounds normal. I'm 50 this year, and no period since October of last year. Had heavy bleeding all my life, except for 12 years of bc. At the end I'd have VERY irregular periods, and such bad bleeding when laying down it was AWFUL! I know this is VERY frightening sometimes. Hoping this will be better when it's all over.

LOL! I have no idea what a toonie is! Is it a pancake?
When my periods started getting wonky that was the first sign, clots. Then I would get brown stringy stuff too later on.
I don't think it's anything to worry about unless they get out of hand, then you can get anemic. I would just mention it to your doc next time you have your check up.

I see my toonie comment has some of you puzzled! It’s a $2 coin larger than a quarter. 😃
Thanks so much for the reassurance. I was scared. This stage of life is downright stressful.
