Hi Karen,
Perimenpause is the months, mostly years of hormone fluctuations prior to menopause. There are many symtoms in this stage. One is considered menopausal once your cycle has been absent for 12 consecutive months, are the hormones are still fluctuating. We can't win

Hello Karen
Peri menopause is when your body is preparing itself for menopause. This means that your level of oestrogen starts declining and your periods become erratic. You also go through a Jekyll and Hyde phase. One minute u r laughing and happy then all of a sudden u can be in years, depressed, anxious, stressed, irritated, everyone annoys u, u feel like the world is conspiring against u and no one gets u.
U start having hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia. For some women they get aches and pains. You become bloated, you notice a sudden worth gain even though ur diet hasnt changed. Your libido dies and u become a nun. U experience vagina atrophy.
You worry all the time, u see things in 3D.
This can last up to 5/10 years depending on the woman.
Menopause u have all the above symptoms but u don't bleed anymore. When symptoms get really bad after hitting menopause u can take HRT, which gives u a bit of ur life back, mainly sex life.
But then u have to deal with the fact that u may get problems as HRT can cause cancer in some women.
HRT is great but sometimes due to health issues u need to come off it and then ur life crumbles again.
This can last from 45 to 65 years of aged.
I began at 37 and now almost 59 still struggling.
Hope that helped.

Sound sooooo exciting......NOT.
I think I may have been peri menopausal for a few yrs then, my ex husband said 3-4 yrs ago about me going through the menopause but I didn't take much notice (or I my head in the sand as I'm only 41 now). I can't remember the last time my periods were normal. I've been on AD for depression/pms for a few years now but I'm wondering if this was peri now?
My last period was in Feb this yr and I had to really push for tests, when I got the results (after being told by the Dr receptionist my bloods were clear) the young female Dr just gave me hrt, no discussion, no information, nothing!!! I'm lost on what to do....take hrt?......go herbal? There is no support offered by the Dr
