I've had hsv 1 orally for 11yrs, hsv 2 genitally six months. I have always asked to be tested for herpes specifically since I was 19 and I have never tested positive for hsv 1 and still don't to this day. He does not come up positive for hsv 1, because he infected you orally, he does not have it on his genitals. People don't test positive for hsv 1 unless it's on their genitals, as it seems like the body produces more antibodies if on genitals, vs orally. Not one person I know tests positive orally for hsv 1. So that's why.

Wow this explains a lot but sad because he'll never know he has it ... He'll always think I'm crazy. Never will apologize but whatever thank you so much!!

The fact that your doctor hasn't explained this to you makes me question how much they know about herpes, especially when it comes to docs outside the states. When you get tested for herpes, the antibody test has to be a certain number. In order to be positive. I believe people test negative who have it orally, cuz the antibody number doesn't test high enough this way, unless genitally, which seems they then come up positive for it

She didn't tell me any of this she's not that detailed unless I ask her questions and at that moment not all the questions come up at each appointment and begin to ponder all of this I'm gonna get a second opnion from another doctor thank you!!!

I had it for 3 years prior to testing positive.  I got tested at least twice a year and it always came out negative until I was able to get a test around the time of a break out, then finally tested positive.  As they say, timing is everything.

So your blood tests kept coming back negative? Do what makes you think you had it three yrs before? Have you told any partners you had it and what was their reaction?

I know who I got if from.  We did not even have sex.  Just made out and rolled around in our undies together.  She was very adament that we NOT have sex ... VERY adament.  I guess she thought she would not have to tell me she had it if we were still in our undies she didn't think she could not pass it on.  I started showing symptoms about a week or 2 later but after going to the Dr. ..... and coming out negative ..... well, the rest is history.

I have only had 2 partners since then and I did not tell either of them because I kept coming out negative and the Dr.'s continued to tell me it was nothing.  I have not had a girlfirend since I found out.

Mine didn't come out positive right after either.. Takes sometime till your body builds antibodies to it. Did you ever say anything to her about it? Sounds like she may have known she was active at the time too. I cannot believe that both of you were in your underwear and you got it. Were you not wearing boxer briefs or boxers?

Did either of those partnerships ever have symptoms after being w them?

I never said anything to her.  I don't see any reason to make her feel guilty when she obviously did not mean it maliciously and was making an honest attempt to avoid it.  She is in a very happy relationship now with a man she loves very much so there is really no reason for me to bring it up. She was in Granny panties and I was in boxer briefs there was no oral involved either.  No, to the best of my knowledge. Neither have had symptoms but I haven't asked either.

I new her for a few years before we were together and in our discussions she had always alluded to "something" men wouldn't like about her but never came out and said it. Also because of the way she was acting and her adament stance we not have sex when she clearly showed up at my house for that specific purpose, and because I had my fist break out about 2 weeks after we were together then once a year or so after until I got on medication.

She was very wet during our activities and with all our bumping and grinding it simply transfered.  Penetration is not necessary, just a transfer of fluids.

Yeah, sh*t happens.  How is it said ... God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.  LOL, no stress, just moving on.

Well that's good. I'm glad you're handling it the way you have

I can relate to your mindset. I myself was diagnosed sept 2014. i actually went to my ob/gyn after my ob. I count myself blessed that it wasnt HIV. So this is pretty much how i keep sane. My partner has it too. We both got our results within weeks of each other. There's really no way to tell who gave whom what if you've had other sexual partners. So, i live with it, take my L_Lysine and Vitamin C to boost up my immune system. If i only knew how easy it was to catch Herpes...smh...but as they say, hindsight is better than foresight.
