Could someone please shed some light on this please. I went to the doctors on Tuesday with a bullseye mark on my leg which was causing horrendous pain. He diagnosed me with Lyme disease. He has put me on amoxil for 3 week's. I have felt really ill for the last 2 days. Hard to no if the symptoms are down to this or my chronic fatigue syndrome.
The doctor has said I will be fine after these course of anti biotics but people i have spoke to have said that it's very serious and never goes.
So my questions are will this ever go or will these anti biotic do the trick?thanks in advance

Amoxy isn't first line treatment. Doxy is. It does go away in most if caught very early. However as a precaution and because of how serious Lyme is I would treat for 2 months at 400mg of doxy. This is more doxy then a general doctor would prescribe but a true Lyme doctor would recommend this. I would do what you can to pursue longer treatment. GP's are not educated in the persistence of Lyme disease and are quick to diagnose something else after symptoms don't go away. So you may have to find a true Lyme doctor or think outside the box to treat. It will make you feel awful. Try and exercise while treating and take a good quality probiotic vsl etc
Good luck.

The problem with Lyme is it sets off an autoimmune response in your body and you get a lot of inflammation as a result of the body trying to fight the infection. After you finish the abx it will take a few weeks to a couple of months for the body to clear out the inflammation. Your energy will return. Be patient with yourself. Your body was under attack.
