Considering surgery for prolapse

I have a grade 3 cystocele. It is quite pronounced and I don't think PT is going to correct it. Has anyone had experience with this type of prolapse and how surgery went?

The majority of cystocele repairs, or should I say 99.9% are successful. It's an extremely common operation. Make sure you see a Urogynaecologist though and read the information on the Genitourinary home page under Useful Resource as there's lots of up to date information you may find useful. Recovery is around 8-10 weeks, less than a rectocele repair.

My prolapse was one of the biggest that my urogynacologist had ever seen. I had surgery on July 19th...two days in the hospital, and two bladder infections, but it was Soooo worth it. I am eight week out now, and I wouldn't undo anything...I hope you decide to have the surgery, sweetie,.

I am 8 weeks today post op after cystocele repair, must admit this last week I have started to feel more like myself, still taking laxido for bowels, so scared of prolapse returning, will start to drive this week, still a little nervous about resuming full relationship with hubby though, scared it may be painful, anyone else experienced any problems with pain? On the positive it's fabulous not to have that bulge, bladder also seems to settling down also, still wearing a pad when I go out just for confidence even though I have never leaked. My surgery went fine and yes very glad I went ahead with it,

That's great to hear I'm coming up on week 8th this week I am afraid to have sex The first two weeks after my surgery I had a bladder infection that was real bad So I was in pain for 2 weeks With no sleep I have been taking it easy the rest of the six weeks I get tired quickly After a few hours Your body let you know thatI have not had an internal examAnd no one told me that I needed one I saw my doctor the first two weeks after surgery and that's it So That's probably why I'm afraid to have sex because of the pain I had with a bladder infection I'm afraid I'll do something Hurt something so I don't know Other than that I feel pretty good Sometimes I feel like I have to urinate but nothing comes out But I guess that's normal I can do fast walking on the treadmill they said To be on the safe side I should never to lift nothing over 20 pounds again And they said I could do my stationary bike But not real but not real hard And I looked at myself Pelvic exercises I have been doing Kegel exercises since the day I got home from the hospital That has worked out wonderful I can't believe it So good luck to you God bless

dianelou you don't necessarily need to have an internal examination at a post op check. A lot of Urogynaecologists now don't even see patients post operatively although I don't agree with that.

janice as a cystocele repair doesn't involve the bowel it's unusual to still need something for your bowels after 8 weeks.

Oh ok, thanks I wasn't sure, but you're right, either do I, but I guess if nothings wrong its fine, I just am nervous with this whole experience.

It's understandable dianelou. I was nervous after my surgery and I knew what to expect. Just do what makes you more comfortable because at the end of the day the stool softeners are quite mild but try not to let your bowel get used to them because it doesn't have to work as hard.

Hi, I was looking on here to see if anyone else had had trouble urinating. I'm almost 6 weeks out. It's been the only problem I have. Did yours clear up, hope you don't mind me asking.
