Constant pain in abdomen

Posted , 1 user is following.

I've been struggling for at least the last 6 months with stomach and bowel problems and have an appointment with gastro at the end of June. My symptoms alternate between constipation and diarrhoea with lots of mucus and sometimes blood, but mainly I am in pain and discomfort every day. I have permanent discomfort all down the right hand side of my abdomen, it feels like something is pulling and snagging inside, and I also have pain going round my right side and into the back kidney area. As well as this i have sharp pains sporadically all over my abdomen, today its been in my mid upper but often its almost like period pain deep in my pelvic area. I'm also getting alot of pain in my coccyx. Apologies for the long post, im just so exhausted with it all. If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it.

WOW. Your situation sounds very similar to what I suffered from off/on for my entire adult life.

First off, nobody should ever try to diagnose themselves, but using these tools available to us is helpful prior to getting in to see a medical professional. That said, consulting with your GYN and a GI specialist is really indicated here with pelvic ultrasound, abdominal CT and even a chest xray. Then, if they dont see anything, further tests like MRI, Colonoscopy, ERCP, etc. may be necessary. Its unfortunate for us gals that many of our abdominal and pelvic issues can overlap between multiple organ systems, primarily gynecological and gastrointestinal. However, when organ structures are that close together, it can be difficult for docs to distinguish the specific location. Especially due to referred pain with or without nerve involvement.

With the above said, I had pain in my lower right quadrant for years. Sometimes it was tolerable, other times it put me in the ER because i was always fearful of Appendicitis, let alone female causes. Mine ended up being Endometriosis, Divericulitis and IBS. I had to have 3 Laparoscopies between 1986 & 1998, Multiple Colonoscopies/ERCP and just about every other test imaginable to find out what i had. However, I didnt get REAL relief until my Hysterctomy in 2017 at the age of 51 and then Gallbladder removal in 2019. My belly button looks like a horror flick. Lol

Now, my main issues are spinal nerve damage and that can cause pain anywhere in the body, depending on which disks and nerves are involved. But, thats for a different thread. Good luck !
