Constant reflux, still have gallbladder

Hi all, been here a while now, posted before and been reading ever since.

My main symtom has always been reflux and how my gallstones were found.

I am also under a naturopath for GERD, IBS and multiple gallstones,  My diet was always paleo/primal and very healthy for 5 yrs, but my mum and cousins had their out and reflux was always a huge symptom for them too as well as being female, over 40 and multiple children, I was always higher risk.

I have multiple mobile gallstones and they are pretty sure It is what is causing all the other stuff.

IAfter 2 mths of controlling all symptoms, my reflux has returned worse than ever and nothing is helping and I cannot stop loosing weight! mostly veg and a tiny bit of protein is not giving me enough, I ate a burger last night, no bun and a few sweet potato chips and then coconut yoghurt last night as i was so hungry and I suffered all night and couldnt sleep with the worse reflux I have ever had. I think my gallbladder is deteriorating rapidly, no matter what we do as I am worse now than I was 4 mths ago and 12 kg lighter.

I am seriously considering the drs h2 blockers as I can no longer control the reflux and cannot sleep and worried about the damage it's causing. I had been paleo for almost 5 yrs with limited dairy before this happened, this has all been sudden occurring in July with severe ibs symptoms which have cleared removing nuts and all coconut except yoghurt. So unexpected as my diet was so healthy and full of good fats. funnily have only got pain once with eating lamb sausages a few weeks back from the organic butchers and mild discomfort like cramp under my ribs which comes and goes but is more an annoyance than an issue, reflux which is morning until night was  controlled via food for the last 2 mths by literally only eating meat and cooked veg and white jasmine rice, coconut yoghurt and a few berries with no more than 3 almonds, but symptoms returned I ate just cooked veg and broth for 2 days and didnt make much difference, but nothing is any  longer working and now through the night too which is new.

Anyone know how to stop the reflux?

I am currently waiting to see the specalist STILL. This could be months away, just to get seen!

I need to control this burn and dont know how sad

Star you mention your family had burn too. Did it go away once they had the gallbladder removed?

My only suggestion is get an aloe plant scoop the guts out and blend with water and drink. Sometimes helps my burn.

I've had reflux for about 20 years and last year a 2.1 cm gallstone was found after an attack.

Are you on a prescription for reflux? I've been on Pariet or generic pariet for a long time and have gone from 10mg (or whatever the measure is) to 20. I cannot go a day without taking it or I will suffer. I would not be without it. Just a suggestion.

I was put on Ranitidine, but only stayed on for 3 weeks, in October, weaned myself of quickly and managed with food, not needed it since but now seriously reconsidering it again!

its 150mg 2 x a day and took a good while too work.

      Star,

I commend you for trying to control your GERD naturally! I suggest you get a prescription for omeprazle and take it twice a day, in the morning and at bed time while you are waiting to see the specialist.  It is a proton pump inhibitor, and has a bad rep, but it might provide you some relief.  Natural substances and diet can help, but sometimes the problem is so bad, surgery is the only answer.

Best of luck to you, and let me know how you get on.

Thanks Lynda, I have the ranitidine to try first, so am going back on that if no relief by Saturday. Currently drinking Chamomile tea and only eating chicken, broth and rice. Slpet last night, but that could of been all the gavicon tablets I had consumed through the day and before bed! also upped my slippery elm. I do have a script for stronger meds, but have not yet filled it, which is a ppi smile

I hope you have some luck with the ranitidine!  It works for me at night, but I have to take omeprazole for daytime.

Please know I am thinking of you and wishing you all the best in your efforts to get back to health! It can be a very long and lonely road!

Hi star im so sorry your in so much pain im feeling the same way to. Im now waiting to have my gallbladder out due to multiple gallstones and they think some might be stuck in a bile duct and its also now effecting my liver. I think acid reflux is a big symptom of this i used to get it really bad until my surgeon told me to go on a no fat diet to very low fat diet but i can hardly eat anything anymore as im in pain with it all the time i find low fat soups and toasted brown bread with no butter are about the only things i can eat now, they also said stay away from dairy products and high fat foods and red meat. Everyone is different though you have to find what foods start it of. Keep a food dairy and list foods that have made it worse. Also go back to the doctors and see if they can give you something for the reflux and let them know its getting worse and hopefully they can help you. Hope this helped a little i know how bad this can make you feel im in pain with it everyday so really feel sorry for you. Ive wrote some posts on here if you would like to read them feel free to see if it helps. Really hope you feel better soon keep us updated take care from carmella.

Thank you xxx I was trying to  avoid meds as I am very aware of natural methds and dont use chemicals and eat organically, so its a nightmare.

I also dont eat gluten, wheat, dairy or processed foods anyway ( except I love corn chips!)

I have removed the red meat, coconut yoghurt and only eating chicken and rice or a tiny amount of cooked veg and its thankfully slowly settling again, I think. My mum said she couldnt eat anything at all in the end without reflux, until she ended up in emergency surgery sad

I do still have my script,so do have meds, but resisiting for now, if possible.

I am defintely getting worse though as it only started with IBS and then reflux, no pain and now I am getting frequent crampy ache under my ribs with on and off niggly pain, not severe though, despite working with a naturopath and taking a lot of herbal meds to help sad

I am guessing my gallbladder is deterioating.

I feel so sorry for you. your doing so well on not taking meds at the moment i was the same then the pain got so bad now im on loads sad and still get pain and the flu type symptoms. i also get really bad anxiety when mine gets really bad. Its so horrible not being able to eat anything im now down to eating bread and low fat soup sad and like you said i think when the gallbladder gets to that point theres not much that you can eat and in so much pain. Hope you feel better soon smile from carmella
