Corona affecting eye surgery / visits ?

Posted , 8 users are following.

This is in regards of Corona Virus - not the Beer..:)

Any thoughts on what you would do if you had scheduled surgery in 2 weeks and 1 month thereafter ?

Plenty visits and don't know if advisable to spend so much time in health care if not absolutely neccessary right now ?

Better to postpone 6-8 months ?

Thx

I thought the same but mine is scheduled for tomo march 5 and one week later for second eye. With this epidemic going on and shortages will only get worse and more cases...so I'm glad to be going tomo and a week later..well you know not happy ever to have cataracts but if they need to be taken care of sooner would be better..who knows what hospitals, dr offices, surgeons can wind up getting eventually infected...so I would say sooooon

Personally I would not delay die to virus. Things could get worse vs better and taxi g on health care system. Would only delay if your vision can be corrected with glasses or contacts. If they cannot be corrected I see no need to delay it. Cataracts would just be getting more dense and more difficult for surgeon to remove.

The beer on the other hand may come in handy to calm the nerves - haha

totally agree..dont delay..things will get worse..mask shortages more nurses maybe drs infected...hospital issues of putting off elective surgery..I'm going in tomo for my first eye. then we'll later fir second.

yes..corona virus scary but it's not gonna get better before it gets worse@@ Hope it can get contained more.ppl dont listen when they should quarantine isolate themselves when possibly or even infected

In the US and Canada hospitals are pretty well equipped with negative air isolation wards etc to handle the virus at this point in time. Also a local issue. I would be more worried if I was in a city where the virus is actually active. Our city has had no reported cases of the virus, yet when I went to Costco yesterday, every last package of toilet paper was gone. I was only going to buy it because it was on sale, but none for sale. Seems to me the panic level is higher than than the actual risk level!

we just dont know the risk and if shipments from.china will be stopped too, temporarily... who knows

In my area of Canada run on Costco had more to do with rail blockages than virus. Supplies not getting through.

What I find scary now is that we find out what is really coming from China. I recall that Coca-Cola reported that they were running short of ingredients to make Coke! What on earth is coming form China these days, when we can't even make soft drinks without imports from China?

mine is tomo first eye..second eye in one week after...

oh things can only get worse before better and they may eventually hold off on these and other elective non emergency surgeries.

    so sooner is better

good luck with your first eye tomorrow. I agree its better to do it now if it needs to be done. Eye surgery is a clean procedure and virus-wise you are less at risk than going to crowded supermarket to buy TP.
