It should be decreasing by that time, unless you are overstressing the knee on a daily basis.  Did you go back to work too soon?  What type of work?  Does that work put constant stress on the knee?

Probably not but it took me a year to get completely over it and still had times it bothered me. That was 5 years ago and I got my other knee done 5 weeks ago and I’m having a lot of swelling, aching feeling at night just like you. I’d ask your doctor about your knee.

Hey Paula. It was normal for me at 17.5 months. Now at 21 months still have a bit of discomfort after 2-3 travel days in a week so grin and bear it and if it's more thanking, seek medical assistance lovee.xx

More than minimal. Not thanking! Sorry!

Please remember Paula that there is now such thing as normal, we are all different and if you got the other knee done your experience would probably totally different from the first time.

it is now over 2 years since my TKR and it took me 13-15 months for recovery.  Now I can cross my legs and the bend in my new knee is just as good as the other knee,

mind you that will probably need doing in the future.

i think there is probably nothing wrong with how you are, but ask a specialist, you’re just slower than a lot of others, as was I, but. Am now better than a lot f people who appeared to be doing so much better than me initially.

    good luck.

It's a bit unusual to still have those symptoms at 11 months.  Did you do get your ROM back?  Have you done all the exercises to rebuild your quads, glutes and core?  Are you stressing out the knee too much on a daily basis?

Any or all of these could be working against you but don't despair.  Doc is correct about the "year"...however, some people take a bit longer than that.  If you are doing everything right, it should resolve itself.  The "tightness" can last 18 months so that should not be an issue. Swelling usually happens when the knee isn't healed and you put too much stress on it in a day.  Try a pedometer to track your steps to see at what point the knee starts to swell.  Back off and increase gradually.  Remember to do all your ROM and strength exercises.

People vary in speed of recovery, a,lot.

I don't have any of the mentioned issues at 9 months, just miniscule ache and swelling but we are all different,

Exercises in water, yoga, mindfulness, regular stretching and not overdoing things by listening to my body were things i found helpful.

Healing cannot be rushed, and if concerned get it checked out, maybe a physiotherapist could help?
