Hiya Guys...

Well I've been waiting since late February and this morning got the call that a cancellation had popped up, so I'm in on the 20th September for my TLHR πŸ€— I was in last October for my right hip replacement so this should sort me out and get my life back. It's been a very tough couple of years for me and my wife has done so much for me and put her life on hold too, so this is for the both of us... I've got use to life with pain it's going to be unbelievable to just to be able to walk out with our black Labrador and not end up in crazy pain, so to all who's waiting too hang in there things will get better and life is out there for the living...

I'll report back on how things go...

Stay Safe & Stay Happy

Pete 😊

    Good luck monkeypearl,

I had the same last december - three days notice of a cancellation - just enough time to buy a decent pair of pyjamas and cancel the milk. Let us know how you get on.

GOOD LUCK! I have had both mine done but recovery slow due to other issues i had first one in December last year and second done in April. I am having physiotherapy once a week but its not enough being referred to a gym so hopefully this will help take care

I had a cancellation as well but mine was - rang wed morn at 10 - can you come in at 7 the next day. talk abt panic. what I'd planned to be day before OP as a restful day ended up being panic cleaning session so by time I got there I was ready for a sleep. lol

    Hi there,

I had my right hip replaced July last year and my left hip done at the end of April. I found my recovery second time round much easier, I knew what to expect this time, and the importance of keeping up with my exercises .

I am now totally pain free in both hips. We wanted to get a dog but I was apprehensive about being able to bend down to clean up after her, I need not have worried, I can bend down no problem and without pain. We got the puppy and its great to be able to walk her. My lack of mobility also affected my husband as he was taking care of me, its so nice to both have our lives back.

All the best for your op, by Christmas your pain will just be a memory!

Good luck! Yes. So true, you'll be able to get your life back on track after the op! And guess what, you're having your op on my anniversary!! So it's a win win situation!! πŸ’ͺ🏼😁

    Hello Monkeypearl

Yes, life does get better after the hips are done. Each hip is a major step forward after the pain endured prior to surgery. It is a hard slog for a while but slowly improves. I have now had 3 hip replacements, one was a faulty hip and that was the longest recovery of almost a month in hospital and another 6 before I was confident to venture forward (lots of complications). Little steps at a time and listen to you body and do what you are told. People do not believe me when they find out I have had hips replaced thanks to a good surgeon and being sensible.

Hello. I am from Alaska and I am 4+ years from left sided THR. I have had issues ever since the surgery and no luck with doctors up here being able to solve them. I can't lay on my operated side (never have been able to). I also can't sit on hard chairs or sit up totally straight without hurting during and after. Bending over for any length of time (say pulling weeds throughout my yard) make a nerve in the back of my leg to flare up. And I can't exercise or i will be in pain for days. I have tried squats and other stretches and strengthening over and over and have had no luck making it better... only worse. A good surgeon is vital and I REALLY need to find one. Do you mind me asking where you are located and the name of your surgeon? I am getting desperate for a good surgeon. I did not have a good one for this THR and I am scared to death of having it revised and having worse problems so I am determined to find an excellent surgeon. I hope you don't mind sharing. Thank you!!!

Hello again... one more question. Did the same surgeon perform all your surgeries? Thanks again.

wishing you all the best for the 20th. You're totally right when you say to hang in there, as there is light at the end of the tunnel! To be pain free in the hips and be upright is AMAZING.

    Take care of yourself. 😊
