Dark Dot on Thumb

On my thumb, on the skin just to the right of my nail (at the tip of the skin that comes up around the side of the nail) i have a single, pin-sized spot that just appeared a few days ago. It has not changed since then in size nor color, it is dark brown/black. I do not know if it is anything at all to be concerned about as i have been having anxiety over any little thing that pops up lately. I do not know if it is just a very small bruise (again, the spot is pin sized) or perhaps a tender spot from where a hangnail was. The skin there is also hard and just the slightest bit sore. Again, this affect is only present on that tiny little area. Is this anything to be worried about, or just a leftover mark from something else?

    It sounds like a blood blister . Just leave it alone and it should gradually wear away as the skin sheds.
