Dates 2015?

Posted , 15 users are following.

Just an idea, I though it might be good if we all added our pre op and op dates on one thread so that we can all see easily who is up for their op next and wish them well smile

I'll start;

My Pre-Op is 15th Jan and my TAH is 29th Jan

      Hi Luckymum

It's becoming  real now the pre-op is looming, and I am planning the flat so I can reach stuff etc.  How are your nerves doing?  I think lots of happy thoughts and treats are the order of the week!  Take care.

Thats a great idea Luisa, I can't do without my cuppa! I've already got that base covered though as I've got one of those one cup hot water things where you press a button and it fills your cup with boiling water, didn't get is specially though we've had it a while, also got a Tassimo for my coffee/chocolate so my life lines are in place smile xx

      Hi Luckymum and Luisa

I have found great comfort in collecting things for my case, and packing them in bags in sections (stops the brain from thinking nasty things!)

I've pinched Luisa's idea of the travel kettle (hope you don't mind), I've just ordered one from Amazon, brilliant idea, every little helps as Tesco says!

I cannot get over this site, there is so much help and support just when we all need it.

      Love

I don't want to pack yet, it makes it too real rolleyes but I have wrote a list of things smile xx I found some ideas on a different site (I tried posting there but didn't feel very welcomed sad ) but anyway I keep popping back in for tips and ideas smile A few more ideas are:

Straws to drink from for first day or so

A carrier bag on the car seat so you can swivel out easier

A cushion between you and the seat belt for journey home

A cushion to sleep with to try side sleeping after a couple of weeks

A cushion to hold against your stomach when you cough, sneeze, laugh etc

Some mints to suck to help ease any wind and also to help with throat after GA

Peppermint tea to help with wind

Honey to help with throat after GA

      Lipsol and face wipes.

Oh no, I had loads of questions to ask at my pre op, now my mind had gone blank sad any ideas of what to ask?

      Hi Luckymum

Many thanks, I am so impatient, wish they would sort me tomorrow and I could get on with recovery but I know I have to wait my turn patiently (trouble is I don't do patience!).

Ah questions coming up straight from my journal, they might not all be relevant but might get you thinking about things you need to know.

      1. How long will I be in hospital

      2. Will I have a bladder tack

      3. When can I start using my Ovestin cream again

      4.  How soon can I start kegel exercises again, gentle or advanced

      5.  When can I bend down

      6.  When can I stand up for any length of time

      7.  When can I walk the dog

      8.  How soon can I lift the dog up

      9.  When can I start ironing

      10. When can I start light housework

      11. When can I start exercising, such as Zumba, Wii Board, Jane       Fonda, and Dancing

12, Can I eat fruit again after my bladder is sewn into position

      13. When can I hoover

      14. When can I have sex

      15. Can I wax before the op

      16. Can I take my medications before/after the op

      17. Visiting times

They are really going to love me aren't they!  I will probably turn a 2 hour appointment into about 3 hours!

Let me know how you get on.

      Lots of luck, Jacqui

      Blimey, you have been a busy girl!! Thanks for sharing your questions, there are a couple there that I had already remembered but some others that I hadn't even thought of. Some that are not on your list but may not be relevant to you;

Do the wards have access to Wifi?

What do I need to bring?

Can my partner wait with me before operation?

Are there any pre op drinks or washes?

How long before I can go back to work?

      Hi Jacqui,

Hope your pre-op has gone/is going well. Mine was fine, I'm a bit concerned about the possibility of being amnemic as it is 'ladies week' and also one of my very heavy days so I hope things will be ok. I've not been given any bowel preps, pre op drinks or any special shower gels etc x

Hope all has gone ok for you both, I was given pre op to drink the morning of surgery

Maybe I'll get one then, then, though the pre-op nurse looked a bit confused when I asked and said it varies area to area x
