Day 10 post op

Today is post op day 10. Ever since my hip replacement I have been in less pain, I'm walking throughout the house with the aid of a walker I am getting myself in and out of bed dressing myself but still have my wife here to help in and out of shower and cook. Today was the first day I wasn't up for therapy, last night was a bit rough with almost no sleep and my leg muscles are very very sore. The pain is still much less than what I was feeling pre op so there is still a rainbow and birds singing Zippity Doo Dah ! I'm not looking at today as a set back or negative in any way, it's just a day for me to rest up, relax and play with my 2 dogs. Tomorrow's another day with therapy, TV and goals to set my sights on. So as the song goes " Always look on the bright side of life". Hope all you hipsters have a great week.

I think you should sweet talk that lovely wife of yours into giving a light massage to your legs. Use a regular oil or some coconut oil if you have it. The main thing is to relax the muscles a little.
I tried using some magnesium oil spray and it helped a little with pain and restless legs. Hope it helps and hope tonight is more restful.

Thanks Bobbie, trying to stay positive because I know it helps. I'm just not sure what to tell the therapist if I'm not sure about going thru another session tomorrow, I know I need to keep up with the exercise but don't want to do any harm. I know I'm going to rest up for now and make a decision tomorrow.

Wishing you all the very best Bobbie. My experience was v positive. I'm now 11 weeks post op, cycling to work, almost back to normal.

Wow you are doing well, however 1 good day and you slightly over do it and you will get a day where you hardly do anything.
I am 7wks post op bilateral Physio on Monday pulled me each and every way, by the afternoon I was in so much pain, and yesterday it hadn't eased much so had a day of rest.
Today felt good so exercises, walking and shopping felt good, and fingers crossed I do not feel any discomfort.
Keep up the good work.

There seem to be a number of us in the 2 to 4 week bracket and seem to have the same progress/issues so we must be doing something right.
Be careful not to do too much on the leg too soon. I had a real telling off today from my wife when she caught me in my workshop without my crutch. I told her I can get around without it on short walks but she told me that had nothing to do with it, It is all about safety and having a support if it is needed. She is right of course but we men never listen to our wives.
The sleep bit will be a bug bear for a while. I only managed to sleep on my operated side for 30 minutes last night before it felt wrong, I could feel the muscles complaining. Just paranoid over the dislocation issues I think.
Keep on posting. I (and I am sure many others) read every thread and post to see what to expect or learn from others experiences.
