Day 3 of new dose of thyroid med

Hi all. I recently posted about my lightheaded and dizziness I've been dealing with for several weeks now. Just wanted to update and say that today is day 3 on my lower dose of meds. Unfortunately I haven't noticed any change yet. I"m still extremely dizzy and lightheaded when I stand. How long before I should start to see a difference in how I'm feeling? I can't stand just laying on the couch all day every day...I do this because I only feel ok when I'm laying down. I need to get back to my normal daily activities. I'm thinking of calling my doctor on Friday if I'm not feeling better.

What levels bein out of whack cause the dizziness?  I had two days in a row like that where I woke up dizzy and seeing double for a few minutes...but it straightened out after a few minutes and only happened those two times.  It was one of the things that got me to test my thryroid.  15mg of methimozole per day for 1 month and now I am feeling hypo.  I see the endo on Friday.  Recent numbers show normal T3 T4 and still low TSH at .006.

I'm assuming that because my levels are low is why I'm having the dizziness. I've been to a couple of different doctors and they are all telling me its because my levels are off. I'm set up to see a neurologist bit can't get in until 25 January. So far none of the doctors seem too concerned with it, bit it's becoming hard to deal with since its a daily occurrence and I can't do my normal daily tasks.

Linda, the same thing happened to me. I can't find the right dose. I was initially on 10mg for a couple months and suddenly felt terrible. My TSH was higher but still lower than range but my T's dove too low. That's when I started cutting dose and now on 2.5mg.  I went off med for 6 weeks and got dizzy again so I had no choice but to go back on. Not dizzy too much now but now my blood pressure is up. I read Methimazole can raise it. Just can't get this right.

Have you read the book by Anthony William called thyroid healing? I just started it and hope to learn.

No, I didn't, Linda, but I'd be interested in checking it out.  Thank you !!

    UPDATE

Hey all. Well today is day 5 of the new dose of Synthroid. The lightheadedness and dizziness is still there, unfortunately. I was taking meclizine and phenergan to help with the symptoms, but wasn't seeing any results so I spoke to my pcm. They have put in a referral for an ENT and told me to take Zofran and Benadryl to see if that helps. And I also have to start monitoring my blood sugars since my last A1C test was on the low side. They are trying to rule out low blood sugars.

I woke up this morning feeling ok, but the longer I was awake the worse my lightheadedness got, so much to the point where I couldn't take my kids to school. I took 1 benadryl to see if it would help, but after an hour it was still there so I took a half dose of my Xanax. Since taking both of them I feel ok. Still light headed, but it seems more manageable and I have a headache

I've been doing research and I'm wondering if some of my problems are coming from an inner ear issue since I've been having a lot of ringing in my right ear and sometimes my face will swell just slightly and it will be painful.

Just trying to rule out all possibilities. Anyone else have similar issues? If I could get rid of the lightheadedness I would feel so much better.

    Thanks!

      Hi Latoya

I don't get lightheaded as much as downright dizzy where it's hard to stand up or walk straight. I had Labrynthitis (inner ear virus) in Feb 2016 which gave me total room spinning vertigo for 3 days straight. After that, I was too dizzy to walk unassisted for at least 2 more months. I have not been right since. I attribute my current dizziness to inner ear issues (I also have congested ears and ringing) and also considered low blood sugar because I always feel better after eating. If I don't eat within 10 minutes of getting up in the morning, I get faint and weak and difficult to breath. Very scary. I also had what is called a vestibular concussion from an auto accident several years ago. So yes, inner ear disturbances can definitely make you dizzy. When you say lightheaded, is that dizzy or a drugged feeling? I get that "hangover" or drugged feeling on occasion when I go too long between meals. You can drink orange juice and/or snack on a handful of peanuts to keep your blood sugar up.

I get light headed not really dizzy until I lay down. Sometimes when I lay down and close my eyes I feel like I've been out drinking all night and the room is spinning. I'm wondering if I have vestibular neuritis. Several times a week my right ear will close off and start ringing really loud. I was also in a car accident when I was 18 and I hit the back of my head so I don't know of that plays in to this anywhere. I hope I can get in to see the ENT specialist soon. I'll keep you posted.

Injuries can last for years. I hope the ENT sheds light on this and helps you. Yes, please keep me posted.
