Day 5 after my total knee resurfacing .

Hi , I had total knee resurfacing on my left knee on Wednesday..came home yesterday. My leg is really swollen and it's so difficult to sleep as can't bend my knee when I lie on my side ...still really painful and my back is really aching most likely due to how I'm hobbling around with my crutches...lots of crutching and clicking noises ... difficult to do excersise as leg so swollen and stiff ...🙁 I'm completely drained and hoping other people can give me some inspiration please ....I'm 55 and feel 80

Is knee resurfacing another term for knee replacement or is it different somehow?

Hi , rather than take the whole knee out and replace with artificial they have coated parts with metal and put plastic replacement cartlidge in ..means ligaments etc were not cut

Elevate your leg, above heart and use ice packs on it. Did they give you any instructions on what to do? Probably good to read through posts on knee replacement on this forum as I should think same things apply! Hope you feel better soon!

Hi Penny,  It's me again, I hope you're still doing well.

?My pre-op date has come through and a few things have crossed my mind.  Were you given a choice regarding GA or spinal with sedation?  From all I've read spinal seems to be the most popular.  I've also noticed written on the top of my letter is "Attune" which I understand is a type of knee replacement.  So I'm now a bit confused as I thought resurfacing didn't involve using a replacement.

      Any thoughts?

must go to the orthopedic hospital and take bone age test by doing this you can figure out minor issues so that you can prevent your knees from major damage
