Depressed

I have just been Diagnosed with genital Herpes it's been only a few day and finds myself crying none stop. Saw my doctor a few days ago where a blood test and a culture of the outbreak was done I was also given medication.   Been in a relationship for three years we had a breakup but been back together for at least 6 months.  Not sure how I contracted the virus and this is my first breakout it happens three days after having sex with my partner.  I really don't have anyone to talk to so here I am writing my feelings on a blog.  Me telling my other half did not go as bad as I imagine, he was out of the country when I broke the news. He claims his last STD test he was negative for everything, however, I am beginning to wonder he has been back three days and has not made an appointment to go get tested and seem very calm about the whole thing we have not really talked about it.  This a long distance relationship.

Sounds like you got it from him after you last had sex together. Were you diagnosed with HSV1 or HSV2? If your blood test comes back negative, but your swab is positive, then that is your proof this is a brand new infection for you, so from him if you've not had sex with anyone else recently.

If HSV1, however, many people carry that orally without symptoms, so it is pretty common. I would be angry if HSV2, however, even though that can similarly occur with no recognisable symptoms. STD screening doesn't typically include it, so he should get tested for HSV IgG antibodies (not IgM).

My test results should be back tomorrow I did both blood and swap test. So yeah I will soon know.  I also feel that I got it from him although, I know one could have the virus for years with not symptoms. It's something about his response to the news and the fact he has not run for a doctors office to get tested.

Like I said, if your swab is positive but your IgG blood tests negative and you've not been with anyone else in the last month, then you *know* you got it from him. That is your proof. Most people get their first outbreak soon after infection, usually within a week. Only a small minority don't experience a first outbreak until months/years later.
