I just want to know if you can be diagnosed through an MRI scan?

    Hi. I was initially diagnosed with MS because I suddendly suffered with optic neuritis. My first MRI scan was clear, but two years later the MRI showed legions.

    They do an MRI and a lumbar puncture. They also take in account your personal story , such as episodes of sight problems or sudden reduced movement capability. So the entire picture allow them to give you a reliable diagnosis, not only an MRI.

    Multiple sclerosis is diagnosed through a neurological exam, an MRI is used, and sometimes a spinal tap is done it test for MS. There are also VEP, BAEP, and SSEP tests that are used to aid in diagnosis.
