Discomfort problems from prostatitis or Turp

I have to ask a question. I have major discomfort problems from Prostatitis or TURP. I had the TURP done mainly to eliviate these problems in prostate area, but also had Serious urination issues. Could the TURP have hurt me? I read on here from people who have dealt with prostate issues without having surgery and wonder if it's too late for me. I am a human being too and would like to know that there is a chance for healing even for people who's TURP procedures didn't turn out the way they were told they would.

Hi Steven, you need to talk to your urologist and get some answers or dump him/her and find another one, there is always hope you just can't give up, we are at the mercy of doctors and feel powerless but you just need to keep looking for answers and healing solutions, I have been wearing a catheter for over 4 months waiting for a HOLEP operation, I did see 4 different urologist before deciding on HOLEP so you need to research and get different consultation.
Good luck

John-T, why do you have to wait 4 months for Holep procedure, especially when you are having to wear a catheter? That's a great formula for an infection.... -4 months on catheterization
Can you go somewhere else where the wait isn't so ridulously long?

Hi Lawrence, I live in Montreal Canada and there's only one hospital (doctor) who perform HOLEP, I could of have TURP but I turned it down, I know it's unhuman to have to wait that long to get operated and yes wearing a catheter that long brought me a few infection so far but I manage to wipe them, I don't have other choices, I believe there is one other province in Canada doing HOLEP and it's in Alberta far away from home and again probably with a long waiting list, my other alternative would be to go to the states at Mayo Clinic but it's probably extremely expensive since I have no medicare in the States.

Stephen,
If the turp enabled you to urinate more easily and regularly empty your bladder more completly it technically achieved its goal. However, if the turp INTRODUCED major discomfort that has lasted more than a couple of months after the procedure maybe you should ask to have a cystoscopy done to check out eveything post-turp down there. -Maybe by a different surgeon to get another perspective. I had a turp myself some 3.5 years ago and it did not go very well. There were lots of problems and they weren't able to do all that good of a job clearing a channel for my urethra to pass and now the same miserable symptons are beginning to reappear again. But, in spite of all the invasive trauma down there after a couple of months it stopped hurting and for 3 years I felt normal again. No discomfort or pain and I was able to stop planning my life around bathroom locations and able to sleep for a good 5-6 hours or so without having to get up at night. If you have contunued discomfort down there a long time after the turp maybe you might also have an infection. That should be able to be determined by a simple urinalysis. I'd go get a cystoscopy and urinalysis if I were you, and then go from there.
Good Luck

Hi, Lawrence! I am interested in your experience. I had TURP on May 12
and don't feel well. Very frequent trips to the bathroom and an unpleasant
feeling of pain and discomfort all the time. I read that you have to train
Your bladder after TURP. I would like to know for how many months after TURP
you didn't feel well and whether you had to have any interventions or medical
Exams during this period. Thanks! Zdzislaw
