Hi I first started with this about 7 or 8 years ago but I am not remembering its duration,  How long does it take to go back to normal. I have it about 10/days now.  Thank you

It all depends on how serious the flare up is.  If you aren't already doing so, move to a liquid diet (I drink lots of bone broth and water) for a few days until symptoms subside, and then slowly add in low residue foods, such as white rice, bananas, white bread toast, and applesauce.  Then, add other low residue foods until you feel good. At that point, you can add in one or two foods with some soluble fiber.  From my experience, it will go away if you are patient.  But I know it is scary!

IMO if your discomfort doesn’t subside with a liquid diet and heat placed on abdomen in two days I would get checked out by your doctor.

You may need an antibiotic. I have had many flare ups and there are times an antibiotic is necessary. Once I waited too long and had to be admitted to hospital.  Please be careful.

Hi Madeline I am on Cipro & Flagyl since 12/26th.  I had fasted for 48 hrs. & then started to introduce food slowly.  I felt like it was going good but now I am in a lot of pain.  Taking Advil for that.  I have not had a real bowel movement in 10 days. I was just wondering if this ever happened to someone else.
