Dizziness and balance

Hi, can anyone advise me please?

I have had anxiety on and off for years with long standing tinnitus. For the past couple of weeks it's affected my balance with dizziness, although the dizziness is not new. I have head pressure, eye aches, neck aches, headaches and I'm constantly worrying about it all. I've been under a lot of stress for a year because my husband is ill.

I take 5mg Citalopram, reduced from 10 mg three years ago. I saw my doctor two week ago and he prescribed betahistine. I only took one because I think that's when my balance issues started. He did some neurological tests and they were ok. Bloods being done in a week. I'm losing my confidence to go anywhere. Can anyone relate please, it's driving me crazy. Thanks.

i’ve also had anxiety for years and tinnitus, which has now caused a slight hearing loss in one ear. The anxiety goes all the way back to childhood. I’ve had probably every sensation you can possibly get with anxiety and stress. I found that the more I worried about everything, including lightheaded, head, pressure, etc., the more it would continue. I have essentially learned to live with it because as far as I can see, there’s definitely no cure yet. My testing all came out normal.

I do find that when I exercise regularly and drink lots of fluid, and bring down my anxiety level with daily meditation, breathing and crushing any negative thoughts, I have, I feel stronger, which helps. But I know what you’re talking about. I don’t take any medication because it never agreed with me.

You are definitely not alone! There are millions of people going through this same thing and it’s very frustrating that medical science hasn’t been able to come up with some thing to at least help us feel better somewhat.

I do virtual counseling, which is helpful! Feel free to private message me anytime! I definitely can relate. Take care.

Thank you for replying Jan, it's so reassuring to know that my symptoms are identified with anxiety although I am sorry you have suffered with it too.

I think you are right about stressing about it making it worse. I try not to but it's so hard when I see my husband not making progress. I dog walk so I do exercise but I wish I could do more but I don't always feel up to it. I've tried supplements but I seem to get side effects with almost everything I try. I think what has worried me most is the balance thing which is new. I'm hoping it was caused by the medication and will resolve itself once it leaves my system. The other thing I tried was NAC so it could be to do with that too.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply, many thanks.
