Do I have herpes or not?

So 4 years ago I cut myself shaving my pubic hair. The cut turned seemed to get infected and looked like a mouth ulcer. I went to the doctor after a week and she swabbed it and it came back positive for HSV-2, blood test was negative. Came to terms with the fact I had herpes but then 4 years later when I found out my ex was cheating I went to get a full std/sti screening and it has come back negative for both HSV-1 and HSV-2. My ex also got tested recently and came back negative also (only person I have slept with in 7 years). The doctor says I don't have herpes and it must have been a false positive but I'm so confused now. Do you think I have herpes or not?

A swab is usually the most accurate. Its rare to get a false positive but bot impossibke. have you had more outbreaks since then? Are you taking any antivirals?

I'm currently waiting for test results back from a swab test, however the nurse did tell me that blood tests for herpes are extremely unreliable, however swab tests on the actual sores/blisters are very accurate.

I have not had any outbreaks since then. Only the one sore. My doctor didn't seem to know much about herpes tbh.

what were your values ? Also look into the forum honeycomb they have good information on there or you could even pay terri warren 20$ to ask this same question and shes a professional or even get a Western blot {kind of expensive} but its 99% accurate

Thank you so much everyone for your answers. I don't know my values but I will see if I can get a western blot test.
