Do the white patches go away?

Just curious how many of you have had the white patches to go away.  If they did go away, was it due to the steroid cream being used regularly or another routine?

Hi There,  yes, the white patches went away.  I started using steroid ointment, then I completely changed my diet.  The white went away within 6 months.  I don't use any steroid anymore, and have stayed with the diet change.  The LS has not come back.  It's been over 1 1/2 years since I've had any problems.

I had white patches. Used steroid and coconut oil and I think they faded away very quickly! Forget exactly how long but I think they were gone within a week.

yes I did have them go away. I have had blue, gray, white, ridges, fusing

and itch that drove me crazy.  I have one very small spot of white at the back of the opening to the vagina.  No Itch or anything else.  The fusing has released most of the labia but not the clitoris

Sheila, what do you think caused the fusing to release?  I have read that you can't reverse the fusing, but others have said theirs released.

Thank you ladies so much for your responses. I started a steroid cream (triamcinalone acetonide .5%) that made my condition much worse by causing severe burning and more white patches. Coconut cream has soothed the burn, but the spots are still there. I think the cream was way too strong! If the right cream makes the spots fade, I will work to find one that doesn't cause such a reaction. I'm going to see another doctor next month, since mine acts like this disorder is no more serious than a case of jock itch and seemed annoyed that I would ask so many questions!

what a poor response from your physician. most unhelpful.

i took the steroid for 3 years without much improvement. but quitting gluten led to major recovery. I no longer take the steroid and i'm doing ok! Haememelis a homeopathic form of witch hazel has helped with discomfort. Its intended for haemorrhoids! Haven't had white patches in a while. hope that offers encouragement! x

Is this a gynaecologist who treats LS this way? If it's a GP, you need to see a specialist.

Hi, I use triamcinalone now for three weeks.  Did you use clobetasol before the triamcialone?  The clob. is suppose to be stronger.  I had a terrible reaction to the clob.  Now I think I may be having a reaction to the triamcialone.  I itch more and fusing is getting to be a lot and fast. I would like to hear what your doc gives you when you see him next month.

I was not given the clob. I was started on the triamcinalone at .5%--not .05. That just seems so strong! After that he gave me fluticasone .05% in a cream which also irritated. A friend gave me a tube of triamcinalone .025% until I can get into a new doctor. I really feel the first medicine was just too strong and did so much more harm than good. I am seeing a gyno, and I'm glad he did diagnose me early, but he doesn't even want to see me for follow-up and gave me no info on the disorder. His only concern was possible increase in cancer. I am going to try to see another gyno about this because when I called to ask about a follow up and what to expect long term he said. "Well to be blunt, you will just itch."

I too felt that my Dr didn't think it was all that serious, nor did she truly believe me when I said the clobetasol made my condition so much worse I stopped using it. I too will be looking for a new Dr.
