Do you know people who have beaten general anxiety?

I've had constant anxiety with depression now and then for no reason since September! I've been on Prozac awhile, been treated for under active thyroid, had a pituitary tumor removed... And nothing has changed when it comes to my anxiety! I was wondering if anyone has any success stories to share....? Because I've read pretty much everything since September so I just want to hear something positive

Do you mean beaten it as in completely rid yourself of it or just be able to manage it? I only know people who is able to manage it so it doesn't really overtake their lives, to include myself. I still have anxiety and depression but over the years, I've come to accept it as a part of my life and learned to manage it more effectively. I've had to take medication but only for 2-3 months then I relied on cognitive techniques as well as stress relieving techniques such as running, hiking, music, etc. It gets me down every so often but I think because I've accepted it, it doesn't bother me as much as it used to. I'm not saying I've given up trying to get rid of it but I've just learned to not let it take over.

Mine tends to run in cycles and my health. Its something you have to learn to manage. Im sure there are people who have completely reversed it out, most likely wouldnt be in this forum though. I have had years of it gone in the past. I used biofeedback and cbt like therpay and it dissapeared for a while. It was nice. But years later it did pop back up.Now it seems to be months at a time im ok then it visits for a couple of weeks or so then goes away. Usually when im eating well balanced and keeping it busy it feels better. Laying around and eating poorly is not a good way to manage it. I tried that too haha.Panic attacks can be managed and you can ride them through. They truly stink. Generalized anxiety you have to control what you allow yourself to think and believe. Thats a hard one and tends to be all the time overthinking. Headaches tend to appear with GAD.I dont use medications, i cant but it seems many dont and figure it out over time. I wish i could write a winderful ending here, and i hooe to have that but i basically manage it as best i can.

How long have you been on Prozac and what mg? I'm starting Prozac again and coming off Paxil after 15 years. It just stopped working and my anxiety is horrible. I'm hoping Prozac helps me. I tried it about 2 months ago and it increased my anxiety. Paxil itself is bad to come off of.

I had really bad anxiety for awhile, which led to depression, which led to me feeling terrible! I was miserable, and I remember looking on the internet everyday trying to find people who were in the same situation as me. I felt alone and I didn't really have anyone to talk to because none of my friends experienced anxiety. I've always been a little anxious, but one day I had a panic attack out of nowhere and all of the sudden I had dibilitating anxiety. It was really bad for a few months...miserablesad I got on paxil, which I had been on before, but it just kind of leveled me out and I was still depressed. I went to a new doctor and he suggested taking zoloft at night and wellbutrin in the morning (to ward off some of the tiredness that the zoloft might make me feel. I had been on lexapro at one point too, but that didn't do much to help me. The zoloft combination was a game changer for me. Every day got better. Not to say that I don't have anxiety now and again, because I do, but it is soooooooo much better. I used to be scared for my health, to go anywhere, etc. Now I worry about nothing! It is so freeing!smile Good luck and don't be afraid to reach out!

    Hey smile

you just need to take control of your mind...this is how I did it.

Imagine that you have been transfered into different mind to repair it.

So what you`re here for is to listen for the thoughts that come throuht the mind

and compare them to the emotions. you have to really ask your self does it really have to be here ? No ? then rethink the though and always when it comes back

do it again until you dont feel that way. Sometimes we tend to feel things before we reason them. It could feel overwealming I know Ive been there and still am.You can make a pretty good recovery you just have to be the maintainer not the reciever. Other then that try to avoid things and people that make you anxious.

If you cant or dont want to then learn about those things better. Anxiety is our prehistoric mind it was used for protection it isnt intelligent and it tends to skip logical or complicated thinking. what you have to do at that time think about your worries that will fire up your Central Nervous System(CNS) that producess serotonin the feel good chemical thats in our brains. try to read about anxiety the only way you are going to fix anything is by reading about it. For example the limbic system the lizard brain our prehistoric brain that we used in dangerous situations. It does things without thinking about it to get the quickers reaction for survival. Take it that way, still better to react when theres no danger then dont react when there is danger smile. And if you feel down and depressed remember that you are unique no one is like you and never will be they can be simular but not you. Try to live healthy lifestyle and avoid caffeine it can trigger panic attacts because it makes you more alert.

if you are religious then pray and believe or if not , meditate you dont have to be religious to meditate you just sit still or lay down breathe deeply count to 5 with each inhale and exhale if 5 secounds is too much do 4 or 3 at the begening and progress. I know this seeems too much info and effort but everything takes effort  and time. And after you get better you will be proud of your self and wanting to help others. Athought genetilized anxiety will always be there I can tell you I supressed it by 90% and the depression is just a side effect of your anxiety. what ever you do dont think of an suicide like I did when I was so frustraited and down. You`ve been given a puzzel to solve which then you can help others to overcome their puzzels. I know you`ve had health problems  but you just cant let that sink. I have been born be 2 kidneys on 1 side of the body and with 1 adrenal gland so my body dosent produce much of adrenaline. I also have ADHD which always made me feel from others since childhood up until now. Due to that I also had lot of social anxiety not many friends. I have learned to communicate with people and suppress my ADHD which always made me look ignorant. the problem is that I didt know why I was this way until my 18s. Anyway sorry for this monstsity but yeah hope it made you feel somewhat better. what ever you do beleave the lizard smile

I dont know anyonewhere  who has beaten it but i know that you can learn to manage it.I go through periods where i am fine then i get hit again but each time i learn to control it a bit better my biggest problems are that i am the worlds worst overthinker or believe i am, and i am very sensitive and thats what sets the anxiety off but I know there will be thousands like me. on  a positive note i am learning to manage it better rather than it managing me
