Doc appt today - what should I do?

Posted , 6 users are following.

I didn’t sleep last night. Woke at 2 am and couldn’t relax. I had been doing better sleeping. Waking at 2:30, but being able to doze a little has been recent pattern.

I have a doc appointment today. First since prescribed this medication.  I’m just about 4 weeks. I’ve read that she may want to increase my dosage at this point. While I don’t discount a higher dosage I’m afraid of going through the side effects again.

I really would like to feel normal at 20 mg and not have to increase. Obviously I want to get well. But  afraid of what I am going to be told this morning.

As a side note, I feel pretty good right now. A bit shaky, but not spacey yet.

I saw my Dr after 4 weeks of taking fluoxetine. Discussed how i was feeling and he explained side effects i was experiencing are normal for this med. He didn't suggest upping the dose, which i was pleased about . Just going into week 8 and feel I'm starting to see some improvement. Everyone's different , i just didn't feel upping the dose was right for me.

Hi. I am at the 7 week point. I have had awful side effects of nausea dizziness and sleepless nights along with increased anxiety. However I am just starting to turn the corner I think and that is on 20 mg. I was tempted to increase but worried about worse side effects so plodding on as I am. Think Prozac seems to take a while to kick in but we will get there!

So the appointment went well. She asked about my side effects and how I’ve been doing. I feel like I am about 60% better. Mid December I was laying on the couch drugged.

She told me that I was the driver of this and that I had 3 choices. We could try a different drug. increase my dosage, or keep doing what I’ve been doing. I’ve opted to continue at my current dosage for another 4 weeks and then re-evaluate. She is supporting this decision and I hope it is a good one.

Thank you all for your support!

Me again... not a very good night anxiety waves started about 6 pm... and got worse when i took my Ambien. I think because I was tired, sometimes when the Ambien starts to work i get afraid of feeling out of control. . Didn’t stop until I feel asleep and then I woke up at 1:30 am.

Yesterday was was good until then. I walked some errands yesterday after my doc appt. some anxiety but no waves. I was pooped later... guess that is what happens when you’ve sat on your behind for a month!

Week 4 as of today. I do have a question. When you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t settle down... has anyone tried drinking Sleepy Time tea (valerian). I’m thinking I might try this (a weak cup) to see if it will at least let me rest even if I can’t sleep.

      Take care

I am taking for anxiety. Started suddenly at work in mid December. Had a horrible stressful 2017. Laid on the couch drugged with pills prescribed by urgent care for a week before starting Prozac. I’ve dealt with depression in my 30’s, but never had anxiety.

Worse thing ever (and I’ve been through chemo)

I'm taking them for anxiety Tracey, and although in general my healths been good , I've never experienced anything like this . 7 weeks in, had 2 good days, then half 7 last night, bad anxiety , fuzzy head and appetite is really poor again. Will try and stay positive, and hope tomorrow is a better.

      Hi Karen.

I find that  ginger pill helps with the fuzzies. I sometimes take one on the morning when I feel spacey. I get anxiety in the afternoon and evening , not full attacks, but rolling waves? Camomile tea helps  me here.

Feel better and better days to come smile
