Hi

I am been prescribed Sertraline 50mg by my gp as I have been feeling down and low for the past few weeks. I keep having dreadful thoughts that my relationship will break down for no apparent reason, I dont want to get out of bed, I dread waking up in the morning worrying about how I feel. I have been taking the tablets for says now, getting the horrible symptoms like, nausea, dizzness, dry mouth and clenching of the jaw, just hope this is normal!! Just wondered whether anyone can give me some hope reasurrance that it will get easier.

Thanks

For the first 4 - 6 weeks I suffered with the same thing, its really unsettling. My depression became much worse and I was pretty much bed ridden, but I just took some time off, gave into doing as little as possible, had someone make me some food and drink plenty of fluids.

Clenching jaw was something that really did my head in for ages! Its only tension though.

Stick with it, honestly it will start working for you. If things get work, go talk to your GP and he might prescribe a short course of diazapam to bring you down a little while the Sertraline does its thing.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks for replying, I wasnt sure whether anyone actually would! I just really hope things will get better, I dont even know why I feel the way I do, Im currently on my summer break from university and Im goin away on holiday next week to Spain which Im not looking forward too at all! This is so unlike me, its frustrating because no one around me understands, they think im being stupid and need to get a grip!

    I will keep u posted

Hi, you will feel better in time, i was on setraline for over a year, initally because i was very worried all the time and anxious, i started on 50mg then went up to 100mg, the results were really good for me, a bit too good - i stopped crying an stopped feeling rubbish all the time, before long i found myself not dealing with anything just blocking it all out, in the end i came off them because i lost interest in work, sex was a nightmare because i could never climax, however it helped me through the worse time in my life, i just lost my baby and felt like jumping off a bridge, setraline stopped all those feelings and i really didn't care too much about anything, the only downside was when i finshed them, i felt really sad again, so now i've switched to citralopram and i'm trying those as there more for anxiety than anything else, they will certainly lighten your mood! takes about 6 weeks before they work properly

Stick with it . For me the first three weeks were bad and I nearly tried something else. In the fourth week the benefits started and I was very glad that I stuck with it. Now I can deal with things that seemed to totally overwhelm me before.
