Does the emotional blunting pass? I'm on day 15. I feel emotionally numb. I don't remember feeling like this last time I was on Prozac, Is it just a temporary side effect?

Tonight is an odd one Star. I have felt almost normal and clear headed for hours tonight despite my cry for help earlier. It's a welcome respite and no doubt transient but gives me hope. I just don't get this med at all. Let's see what tomorrow brings. The weirdest thing of all was that 8 hours after my first dose my adrenalin rushes stopped. Have you had any big positive signs from within this thunderstorm that we are going through? Hope you're better today than yesterday, and wishing us both a tonne of fight to take on tomorrow x

I am now in week 9.
Mood is much much better but still having awful palpitations which are worrying. I think i need to go back and see the dr about them. I would take them over the depression any day as long as they are not dangerous.
The sleep thing gets better honestly. Are you a woman? I find time of the month i sleep badly xxx

Hello Star,
That's great to hear. I bet the palpitations go away too. Just remember they aren't dangerous. If you think like that you'll be able to control them better maybe? You sound like you are doing great to be honest Star. You sound much more positive.
I'm a man and so lucky my hormones are steady, not that it is helping much with sleep, but my mood has improved too. I just crash each day but reckon a dose increase might help soon.
How long did it take for your sleep to improve? x
PS I had a racing heart a few times. At first I drove to A&E but then learnt breathiung exercises which get me down from 110 BPM to 70 in an amazingly short time. Have you tried them? I breathe in as far as I can, hold for three seconds, then out real slow using my lips to make sure I don't breathe out too fast. No sugar or caffeine is helping too.

Hello Star, are you taking any herbal remedies? They can cause palpitations. Thanks for the week 6 tip. I can put up with it a bit longer. I definitely improving on every front except for the sleep. I've been readin tonnes of articles and can't believe how many supplements and sleeping aids should be avoided on SSRIs. eg Valerian, Melatonin, Tryptophan, 5HTP etc can all cause big problems. Are your palpitations getting any better or at least staying the same? Might it be an interaction with any other meds that you are taking?
I can only dream of being on week 9 x

Hello Star, might Propranolol help? I've heard of some Prozac users being on that at the start. I think it stops the racing heart beat but obviously your doc will know all the ins and outs of it. Might be worth a look. Just remember they don't kill you. It is just your heart beating fast. If you went running it would beat just as fast or even faster. Mine beat like crazy until I read that it is almost always harmless. Once I knew that I was okay.
As always my main issue is I just can't sleep but I live in hope x

Hello Star,
If it is then I bet it is temporary. I'd give it a bit longer but ask your doc too. Worrying when I had a racing heart didn't help and somehow with the breathing exercises I managed to calm myself and then my heart down. The key was knowing it wouldn't hurt me. One time it was racing and didn't feel like panic but it still calmed down with the breathing. Has that not helped at all?
My sleep is just grim but have been told that it should improve by 6th week and I am in week 4 so fingers crossed.
At some point we will know for sure if Prozac is for us. Hopefully it is and it will all come good xxx
